Waived by Dallas
The Cowboys waived Burnett on Monday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Burnett inked a deal with Dallas following a successful workout in July, but the team has now decided to part ways with him. The USC product last played in the NFL in 2020 when he tallied three receptions for 19 yards in just two games with the Eagles, but he's found some success the last two springs while recording a combined 60-684-8 line in the XFL and UFL.

Getting look from Cowboys
Dallas signed Burnett to a contract Saturday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Burnett came in for a workout Saturday and left with a contract. The wideout last played in the NFL in 2020, when he logged 58 offensive snaps and caught three passes for 19 yards over two games with the Eagles. Burnett is a longshot to make Dallas' 53-man roster, but he'll get a look by the Cowboys in training camp while the team's top receiver, CeeDee Lamb, holds out.

Sent packing by Eagles
The Eagles waived Burnett on Tuesday, Glenn Erby of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Burnett played two games with the Eagles in 2020 due to a plethora of injuries at wide receiver. He recorded three receptions for 19 yards in that stretch. The USC product will aim for a depth role elsewhere.

Stays with Philly on futures deal
Burnett signed a reserve/future contract with the Eagles on Tuesday.
Analysis: The 23-year-old had three catches for 19 yards in two appearances for Philadelphia in 2020, but he spent most of the season on the practice squad. Burnett will go through the team's offseason program and faces long odds for making the season-opening roster in 2021.

Comes off COVID-19 list
The Eagles activated Burnett from the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday.
Analysis: Burnett spent exactly two weeks on the list after being identified as a close contact of J.J. Arcega-Whiteside. He'll now be eligible to resume working with teammates.

Shifts to COVID-19 list
The Eagles placed Burnett on the practice squad COVID-19 list Thursday, Tim McManus of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Burnett was placed on the list because he was identified as a close contact to JJ Arcega-Whiteside, who tested positive for the virus Thursday. Burnett will now need to clear the league's protocols before he's allowed to return to the team.

Headed back to practice squad
Burnett reverted back to the Eagles' practice squad Monday, according to the NFL transaction log.
Analysis: Burnett was on the field for 19 of the team's 62 offensive snaps in Week 4 against San Francisco, the fourth-highest rate among a depleted Eagles receiving corps. If Alshon Jeffery (knee), DeSean Jackson and J.J. Arcega-Whiteside (calf) all remain sidelined, Burnett could be back up with the active roster in time for the team's Week 5 matchup at Pittsburgh.

Back on active roster
Burnett returned to the Eagles' active roster Saturday.
Analysis: Burnett was on the active roster for Week 3 against the Bengals, catching three passes, but returned to the practice squad Monday. He's needed again with the Eagles' wideout injury crisis continuing, as Alshon Jeffery (foot), DeSean Jackson (hamstring) and Jalen Reagor (thumb) are all out for Sunday's game against San Francisco while J.J. Arcega-Whiteside is doubtful. Burnett's 15 career catches would ordinarily mean it would be quite unlikely for him to be a significant factor Sunday, but that…read more

Returns to practice squad
Burnett reverted back to Philadelphia's practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction report.
Analysis: Burnett played 39 of 91 offensive snaps in the injury-riddled Eagles receiving corps during Sunday's tie against the Bengals, finishing with three catches for 19 yards. Philadelphia can shuffle Burnett back up and down one more time this season, and there's a good chance he'll be back up with the team at some point in 2020 given the underwhelming alternatives available at wide receiver.

Registers 19 yards
Burnett caught three of four targets for 19 yards in Sunday's 23-23 tie against the Bengals.
Analysis: The Eagles' wide receiver corps has been hit with an injury bug again, and Burnett was one of the main beneficiaries. The 22-year-old receiver finished third among Eagles receivers in offensive snaps, playing 39 of 92 snaps (43 percent). He was one of three receivers to exit the game fully healthy, so depending on how the others recover, Burnett could log another decent workload in Week 4 against the 49ers.

Moves to active roster
Burnett has been called up from the practice ahead of Sunday's contest against the Bengals, Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News reports.
Analysis: Burnett figures to at least see some offensive snaps with both Jalen Reagor (thumb) and Alshon Jeffery (foot) both unable to play. That being said, it's hard to really speculate how much playing time that might warrant as Burnett is clearly no better than the No. 5 option on the team's wide receiver pecking order.

Waived by Eagles
Burnett was waived by the Eagles on Thursday, Mike Kaye of NJ.com reports.
Analysis: Burnett was reportedly impressing throughout training camp but didn't do enough to land a spot on the 53-man roster. The Eagles could bring him back when they build out their practice squad this weekend, barring he gets through waivers.

Appears in two games
Burnett finished the 2019 regular season with two catches on four targets for 48 yards and caught his only target of the Eagles' wild card loss to Seattle for a five-yard gain.
Analysis: Those were the only two games of the season for Burnett, who joined Philadelphia's practice squad in mid-December before injuries necessitated his call-up. He was with the Jets in the preseason but spent the bulk of the year on the 49ers practice squad. The 22-year-old now heads into the offseason an exclusive-rights free agent and therefore will be back with the Eagles in 2020 if the club elects to extend him a qualifying offer.

Starts in team debut Week 17
Burnett was listed as one of the Eagles' three starting receivers Week 17 in the team's 34-17 win over the Giants, finishing with two receptions for 48 yards on four targets.
Analysis: Though he received the starting nod in his first game with the Eagles since being promoted from the practice squad, Burnett essentially split the No. 3 receiver job with J.J. Arcega-Whiteside, with the two playing 15 and 17 percent of the offensive snaps, respectively. Despite the light workload, Burnett still led the Eagles wideouts in yardage and finished second in receptions behind Greg Ward (six), while Arcega-Whiteside and Robert Davis combined to record zero catches on two targets.…read more

Promoted to active roster
Burnett joined the Eagles' active roster Tuesday.
Analysis: Burnett makes the jump from the team's practice squad as their already-beleaguered receiving corps picked up another injury in Sunday's win over the Cowboys when J.J. Arcega-Whiteside reinjured his foot. With Nelson Agholor (knee) likely out again Week 17, Burnett could see time behind Greg Ward, Arcega-Whiteside and Robert Davis.

Signs with Eagles' practice squad
Burnett signed a contract with the Eagles' practice squad Thursday.
Analysis: Burnett's chance on the practice squad comes following moves to promote Robert Davis to the active roster and place Alshon Jeffery (foot) on injured reserve. The Eagles' receiving corps has dealt with a plethora of injuries this season, so Burnett could have an opportunity to bump up to the 53-man roster down the stretch should a depth role open up.
