Cut by Carolina
The Panthers waived Shirden on Tuesday, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: The undrafted rookie out of Monmouth was unable to crack the roster behind Chuba Hubbard and Miles Sanders despite rookie Jonathon Brooks (knee, NFI) being out for the first four games of the season. Shirden rushed 17 times for 47 yards (2.8 YPC) during the preseason, adding three catches for 42 additional yards.

Brought back by Carolina
The Panthers signed Shirden on Monday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Analysis: The Monmouth product was waived by Carolina just eight days ago, but the team has now decided to bring Shirden back. Shirden likely has an outside chance of making the Panthers' 53-man roster, but he's expected to compete for a spot on the team's practice squad as the preseason continues. In a corresponding move, the Panthers waived former Washington running back Dillon Johnson.
