Inks futures deal with Bolts
Johnson signed a reserve/future contract with the Chargers on Monday.
Analysis: Johnson signed with the Chargers in late April as an undrafted free agent out of Georgia. He was signed to the Bolts' practice squad after failing to make the 53-man roster at the end of training camp, and he made his NFL regular-season debut in Week 8 against the Saints, during which he played four snaps (one offense, three special teams) but did not show up in the box score otherwise. Johnson reverted to the Chargers' practice squad Monday, per the NFL's official transaction log.
Analysis: Johnson failed to record any stats while playing one snap on offense and three snaps with the special-teams unit in the team's 26-8 win over the Saints in Week 8. The wide receiver can be elevated two more times before Los Angeles would have to officially sign him to the 53-man roster.
