Pre-Season Outlook
Fairbairn is entering his eighth season as Houston's kicker, having been with the team through three different phases. He mostly disappeared from fantasy relevance in the years between Deshaun Watson and C.J. Stroud, but Fairbairn's strong track record for accuracy (87.1 percent FG conversion rate) suggests he'll maintain value now that the Texans have a high-powered offense again. It helps that Fairbairn has made at least three kicks from 50-plus yards in each of his pro seasons, going 29 of 40 overall (72.5 percent). Only two kickers averaged more fantasy points per game last season, though five injury absences held Fairbairn back in the overall scoring ranks. Better health alone should boost him into the Top 10 this year, and quite possibly the Top 5.

Fairbairn is signing a four-year contract to stay with the Texans, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Analysis: The 26-year-old kicker played all 16 games each of the past three seasons, converting 83.7 percent of field-goal attempts and 91.7 percent of extra-point tries, including 10 of 16 from 50-plus yards. Fairbairn's volume has been far less consistent than his accuracy -- 25 FGAs in 2017, a league-high 42 in 2018, and then 25 again in 2019. The average of 30.7 per season is a reasonable expectation for 2020, assuming the Houston offense remains solid with Deshaun Watson leading the charge.
