Officially out for 2025
Rourke (knee) will remain on the 49ers' reserve/non-football injury list for the rest of the 2025 season, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Rourke opened the 2025 regular season on the NFI list while recovering from a torn ACL that he sustained during his final collegiate season at Indiana. He was designated to return from the NFI in early December, but with his 21-day practice window closing, the rookie seventh-rounder will not be available for the rest of the 2025 campaign. Rourke will turn his attention toward being available for the start of the 2026 season, when he'll likely compete for the backup quarterback job behind Brock…read more

Won't return Week 17
Rourke (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Chicago, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Rourke is in the final stages of his recovery from a torn ACL that he suffered during his final collegiate season at Indiana. He's not quite ready to return, but given his 21-day practice window opened Dec. 8, he would need to be activated from the NFI list ahead of the 49ers' Week 18 tilt against the Seahawks. If Rourke is not activated, then he would not be available for the 49ers' regular-season finale or their postseason run.

Won't be available Sunday
Rourke (knee) is out for Sunday's game versus the Titans, Cam Inman of The San Jose Mercury News reports.
Analysis: Rourke will have to wait at least one more week to suit up for his first NFL game as he continues to recover from the torn ACL he suffered in his final year at Indiana. Mac Jones should continue to serve as San Francisco's top option at backup quarterback behind starter Brock Purdy.

He was originally expected back for training camp, though his recovery has clearly taken significantly longer. Rourke was designated to return Monday, so it's unclear if he'll be activated for a Week 15 matchup against the Titans.
