Quiet effort versus Raiders
Hardman caught his only target for eight yards during Sunday's 27-20 win versus the Raiders.
Analysis: Hardman finished the day fourth among wide receivers in snap share (29 percent), but that number could continue to shrink as veteran DeAndre Hopkins familiarizes himself with the Chiefs' playbook after the team acquired him last week. Hardman has posted no more than four catches for 33 yards in a game so far this season, and there's little reason to anticipate a significant uptick in production from him moving forward.

Targeted twice versus Niners
Hardman logged one reception (on two targets) for 17 yards during Sunday's 28-18 win against the 49ers.
Analysis: Hardman checked in fourth on the team in offensive snaps Sunday, but he saw a significant bump in his usage this week after JuJu Smith-Schuster left the game early due to a hamstring aggravation. The Chiefs continue to see wide receiver injuries pile up and could be a candidate to add an extra wideout prior to the NFL's Nov. 5 trade deadline. However, Hardman could claim added reps in the short term if Smith-Schuster misses additional time.

Makes most of limited snaps
Hardman hauled in all four targets for 33 yards during Monday's 26-13 victory versus New Orleans.
Analysis: Hardman managed to nab four passes on his four targets while tallying only eight offensive snaps on the night. While it's a positive sign that Hardman was targeted on half of the snaps he logged, it also doesn't leave much room for growth. That said, Hardman's play could earn him more run if he proves to be a reliable weapon for a Chiefs offense likely down its expected two starters in Rashee Rice (knee) and Hollywood Brown (shoulder) for the remainder of the regular season, at a minimum.

Ready to go for MNF
Hardman (knee) is active for Monday's contest against the Saints.
Analysis: Hardman will be able to go after popping up on the injury report Thursday with a knee issue. With Rashee Rice (knee) out for the foreseeable future, Hardman will look to carve out an offensive role for himself moving forward. To this point in the season, the wide receiver has yet to garner a target while playing 12 offensive snaps.

Questionable for Week 5
Hardman (knee) was a full participant in Saturday's practice but is listed as questionable for Monday's game against the Saints, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Hardman was listed as a DNP on Friday's injury report due to a knee injury, but his ability to practice without restriction Saturday indicates that he's on the probable side of playing Sunday. Hardman hasn't recorded a target through the first four games of the regular season and has been limited to kick and punt return duties.

Not practicing Friday
Hardman (knee) won't practice Friday, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis: Hardman was limited Thursday, so his non-participation a day later clouds his status for Monday night's game against the Saints. He hasn't been a factor in the offense to date, but if he's unavailable versus New Orleans, it would impact the Chiefs' Week 5 return game.

Pops up on injury report
Hardman (knee) was a limited participant in practice Thursday.
Analysis: Hardman will open the week on the team's injury report, but with the Chiefs not playing until Monday night against the Saints, he still has a few days to recuperate. If he's ultimately unable to play Skyy Moore and Xavier Worthy would be candidates to fill in as Kansas City's return men.

Works in return game Week 1
Hardman returned one kickoff for 29 yards in the Chiefs' 27-20 win over the Ravens on Thursday night.
Analysis: Hardman didn't play at all on offense, but he returned one kickoff and two punts (both fair catches). Barring injuries on the wide receiver depth chart, Hardman lacks a clear path to offensive playing time. He'll look to make a splash in the return game Week 2 versus the Bengals.

One catch in preseason finale
Hardman brought in his only target for six yards in the Chiefs' 34-21 preseason loss to the Bears on Thursday night.
Analysis: The Super Bowl hero played a minor role in the exhibition finale, and it remains to be seen if there will be room for Hardman on the Chiefs' initial 53-man roster. Hardman could be no better than the No. 7 receiver on the depth chart as it currently stands, even when factoring in Marquise Brown's shoulder injury. Hardman also offers value as a returner, but there are other candidates with similar skill sets in Kansas City's deep wideout room.

Re-signs with Kansas City
Hardman is re-signing with the Chiefs on a one-year contract, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hardman left Kansas City for the Jets last offseason but then was traded back to the Chiefs in mid-October after failing to earn a major role in New York. He had a 52-yard reception and a game-ending touchdown in the Super Bowl against San Francisco, making the most of his 19 snaps on offense. Hardman figures to work as a depth receiver again in 2024, and he might also get a chance to returns punts and/or kicks.

Comes through with clutch touchdown
Hardman recorded three receptions (on three targets) for 57 yards in Sunday's 25-22 overtime win over the 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII.
Analysis: Hardman was acquired by the Chiefs at the trade deadline but was sidelined by a thumb injury for most of the remaining games in the regular season. He also played a minimal role in the playoffs, including the AFC Championship Game, when he was on the field for only one offensive snap. Emerges in Week 18 win
Hardman recorded six receptions on 11 targets for 77 yards in Sunday's 13-12 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Hardman saw an increased role due to Travis Kelce (coach's decision) and Rashee Rice (coach's decision) both being sidelined for rest purposes. Hardman led the team in targets, receptions and yards, highlighted by long gains of 37 and 14 yards. While he isn't likely to replicate this performance in the wild-card round, Hardman may have earned himself a rotational role in the offense as the Chiefs continue to look for reliable pass catchers.

Activated from IR
Hardman (thumb) has been activated off IR in advance of Sunday's game against the Bengals.
Analysis: In conjunction with the transaction, the Chiefs removed Hardman's 'questionable' designation for the contest, which sets the stage for the wideout to see his first game action since Week 11. He'll give the team some added WR depth in Week 17, with Kadarius Toney out with a hip injury, but with eight catches on 10 targets for 41 yards in four games with Kansas City thus far, Hardman profiles as a fantasy dart in his looming return to action.

Expected to be activated off IR
The Chiefs plan to activate Hardman (thumb) off IR ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hardman, who last suited up in Week 11, was a full participant in practice this past week, but if he does come off IR on Saturday, he'll approach Sunday's contest listed as questionable. In four games since arriving from the Jets in a trade, Hardman has caught eight of his 10 targets for 41 yards.

Won't be activated in Week 16
Hardman (thumb) has been ruled out for Monday's game versus the Raiders.
Analysis: Hardman has spent the requisite four games on injured reserve following surgery to repair his sprained right thumb back in late November. Hardman's next chance for game action is Sunday, Dec. 31 against the Bengals.

Hardman (thumb) was a limited participant in practice Thursday after being designated to return from injured reserve.
Analysis: The wide receiver appears unlikely to play Monday against the Raiders, per Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com. Hardman had surgery on his sprained thumb at the end of November and now has a 21-day window in which he can return to the team. The fifth-year pro has eight catches for 41 yards and no touchdowns since returning to the Chiefs in an October trade with the Jets.

Hardman (thumb) was designated to return from injured reserve Thursday, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.

He'll have a 21-day window to do so before he needs to be added back to the active roster, but he can return as soon as Monday against the Raiders. Sidelined by thumb sprain
Hardman (thumb) won't play Sunday against the Raiders, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis: Per Adam Teicher of ESPN.com, Hardman is dealing with a sprained right thumb that may sideline him beyond this weekend. Since returning to the Chiefs in a trade with the Jets last month, Hardman has caught eight of his 10 targets for 41 yards, so his looming absence is of more import to his team's wideout depth than it is to fantasy managers.

Hardman (thumb) wasn't present for practice Thursday, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Analysis: Hardman, who is dealing with a sprained thumb, also missed Wednesday's practice, so unless the wideout works fully Friday, he'll likely approach Sunday's game against the Raiders with an injury designation. In four games with the Chiefs since coming over in a trade with the Jets last month, Hardman has caught eight of his 10 targets for 41 yards, a pace that keeps him off the fantasy radar in all but the deepest of formats.

Sits out practice with thumb sprain
Hardman won't practice Wednesday due to a sprained thumb, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hardman reeled in both of his targets and gained 12 yards in Monday's 21-17 loss to the Eagles, but he sustained the injury at some point along the way. The wideout will have two more opportunities to resume practicing in preparation for Sunday's game against the Raiders. Richie James (knee) is the top candidate to return punts and kickoffs if Hardman is unable to occupy that role this weekend.

Quiet outing Monday
Hardman reeled in all two targets for 12 yards during Monday's 21-17 loss versus the Eagles.
Analysis: The Chiefs continue to rotate in a number of wide receivers, and Hardman is no exception to that, playing 20 percent of the snaps Monday. Still, that ranked sixth among Kansas City's wideouts for playing time, so there's little to get excited about in terms of his potential weekly output. He even ceded punt return duties to Kadarius Toney on Monday, so Hardman seems to be trending in the wrong direction for fantasy purposes.

Posts season-high catch count
Hardman gathered in all three targets for 10 yards during Sunday's 21-14 win over the Dolphins.
Analysis: Hardman's playing time remains limited, as he logged 13 offensive snaps Sunday (22 percent), after he logged 22 in Week 8. Still, he drew three targets in his limited snaps, albeit turning his three catches into very little. Hardman remains primarily a special teams contributor and is unlikely to warrant a look in fantasy unless things take a significant upward swing in the coming weeks. However, he has a bye on tap to get some additional work in with the offense.

Workload increases in Week 9
Hardman hauled in all two targets for 13 yards during Sunday's 24-9 loss against the Broncos.
Analysis: After playing just 11 offensive snaps in his 2023 Chiefs debut, Hardman saw his workload increase in his second game back, as his snaps were doubled to 22 against the Broncos. He finished equal with Justin Watson on that front and again played more than Kadarius Toney, but he still trailed Rashee Rice (37), Marquez Valdes-Scantling (35) and Skyy Moore (33). That said, neither MVS nor Moore posted impressive lines, so there may still be room for Hardman to carve out a regular role.

Makes one grab in return to Chiefs
Hardman hauled in one of his three targets for six yards during Sunday's 31-17 win versus the Chargers.
Analysis: Hardman didn't see a ton of action in his first game back in Kansas City, playing just 11 offensive snaps, but he also contributed on special teams and was at least involved on offense, drawing three targets in those 11 snaps. Given the relative mediocrity among the team's wideouts, Hardman could still make a play for regular reps at wide receiver, though Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Rashee Rice may have stated their cases to maintain sizable reps with strong showings Sunday.

Hardman is active for Sunday's game against the Chargers, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: With Justin Watson out with an elbow injury, Hardman -- who rejoined the Chiefs in a trade with the Jets on Wednesday -- will bolster the team's WR depth in Week 7. In his first game back with the franchise that drafted him in 2019, it remains to be seen how much work Hardman will see, but in the coming weeks, he could push for snaps in a Kansas City wideout corps that also includes Rashee Rice, Skyy Moore, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney and Justyn Ross.

Likely to play Sunday
Head coach Andy Reid suggested that Hardman will likely play in Sunday's game against the Chargers, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports. "We'll see, but it's going in that direction [of Hardman playing]," Reid said, when asked about the receiver's Week 7 status.
Analysis: Hardman was acquired via trade from the Jets on Wednesday. He spent the first four seasons of his career in Kansas City, eclipsing 500 yards in three of them, so he likely doesn't need much time to pick up the playbook. While the speedster could get a chance to shine right away against a Chargers defense that's allowing a league-high 220.8 receiving yards per game to wide receivers, Hardman would likely have a limited role Sunday if he's given the green light to play.

Could be traded
The Jets are exploring options including a trade for Hardman, who was a healthy scratch for the team's Week 5 win over Denver, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hardman has barely played for New York this season after signing a one-year, $4 million contract in free agency. On the season, he has just one six-yard catch on one target. Any change of situation would likely improve Hardman's odds of having some form of fantasy relevance, but the Jets may not find much of a market for the former Kansas City wideout. Analysis: Randall Cobb reportedly has seen more first-team work than Hardman, who injured a finger while playing with the second-stringers in a preseason-closing win over the Giants last Saturday. Hardman should get a few touches as a return man and as a No. 4 receiver when the Jets host the Bills in Week 1, but Cobb, Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard (plus tight end Tyler Conklin) are all more likely to lead the New York's pass-catching corps in targets from quarterback Aaron Rodgers.

Coach Andy Reid told Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com on Thursday that Hardman (pelvis) is unlikely to be available for Super Bowl LVII versus the Eagles. "I think it'll be tough for him," Reid relayed.
Analysis: Making his first appearance since Week 9 in this past Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals, Hardman managed to play 15 of 69 snaps on offense en route to two catches (on three targets) for 10 yards and two carries for seven yards. However, he aggravated his injured pelvis in the second half and was unable to return. Considering Reid's comments Thursday, Hardman seems to be the least likely of the Chiefs' banged-up wide receivers -- also, JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Kadarius…read more

No practice Wednesday
Hardman (pelvis) was listed as a non-participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report.
Analysis: All of Hardman, JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Kadarius Toney (ankle/hamstring) wouldn't have taken part in drills if the Chiefs had held a session Wednesday. However, the team has five more chances for all players to get in some on-field work ahead of the Feb. 12 Super Bowl LVII matchup with the Eagles after Hardman, Smith-Schuster and Toney made early exits from this past Sunday's AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals. At the moment, Kansas City has just three healthy wide receivers…read more

Aggravates pelvis injury
Hardman (pelvis) is questionable to return to Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals.
Analysis: Hardman stayed down after making an 11-yard catch in the third quarter. That play brought Hardman up to two catches for 10 yards on three targets plus seven yards on two rushing attempts. He was playing for the first time since Week 9 due to an injured pelvis, and the wide receiver appears to have aggravated that injury.

Returns to action Sunday
Hardman (pelvis) is listed as active for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals.
Analysis: In his first game action since Week 9, Hardman will add speed and experience to a Kansas City wideout corps that also includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Marcus Kemp. In that context, Hardman, who logged 25 catches on 34 targets for 297 yards and four touchdowns through eight games prior to being sidelined, profiles as a speculative fantasy option in his return to the Chiefs' pass-catching mix Sunday.

Hardman (pelvis) is listed as questionable for Sunday's AFC Championship Game against the Bengals after practicing in a limited fashion this week, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.
Analysis: Hardman, who last suited up for game action in Week 9, appears to be trending in the right direction ahead of Sunday's 6:30 ET kickoff, and If he's available versus Cincinnati, the 2019 second-rounder would add valuable speed and depth to a wideout corps that also includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney, Skyy Moore and Justin Watson (illness, questionable). Hardman (pelvis) was listed as a limited practice participant Wednesday.
Analysis: Hardman was unable to practice last week ahead of the Chiefs' divisional-round win over the Jaguars, but his ability to work Wednesday in any capacity has the wideout trending in the right direction in advance of Sunday's AFC Championship Game versus the Bengals. If he's available this weekend, Hardman will add speed and experience to a Kansas City wideout corps that also includes JuJu Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Kadarius Toney and Justin Watson.

Questionable for Saturday's contest
Hardman (pelvis) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the Raiders after practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday and Thursday.
Analysis: Hardman, who last suited up Week 9, may end up being a game-time decision for the contest. If he's cleared to play, he'll likely be subject to a limited workload, according to Charles Goldman of USA Today. Hardman was listed as a limited participant at Wednesday's practice due to a pelvis injury.
Analysis: The Chiefs activated Hardman from injured reserve earlier Wednesday after he hadn't played since Week 9 due to abdominal soreness, but given that he's still not practicing fully due to what's a related pelvis injury, the wideout's status for Saturday's game against the Raiders remains uncertain. Won't play after setback
Hardman (abdomen) won't play in Sunday's game against the Broncos, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Analysis: Coach Andy Reid revealed that Hardman suffered a setback Wednesday, which explains his subsequent absence from practice. Hardman will have one more chance to return from injured reserve before the end of the regular season when the Chiefs face the Raiders in Week 18. He must be activated from injured reserve by next week in order to play again this season, so Kansas City will likely do so with an eye on having Hardman in the postseason, regardless of his Week 18 availability.

Looking unlikely to play Week 16
Chiefs head coach Andy Reid suggested Thursday that Hardman (abdomen) isn't on track to be activated from injured reserve ahead of Saturday's game against the Seahawks, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports. "I'm not sure he's where he need to be," Reid said.
Analysis: Reid's comments are an about-face from just two days earlier, when he told Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com that Hardman had a "good chance" of suiting up this weekend. The coach's change in tune isn't necessarily an indication that Hardman has hit a snag in his recovery from the abdominal injury; it's possible the receiver may just need to get in more practice reps as he attempts to regain conditioning following a six-week layoff. Has chance to return Saturday
Coach Andy Reid said Tuesday that Hardman (abdomen) has a "good chance" to play in Saturday's game versus the Seahawks, Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reports.
Analysis: The Chiefs designated Hardman for return from injured reserve last Wednesday, but he was unable to do enough in practice to be activated ahead of Sunday's game in Houston. With another week of on-field work on tap, though, he seemingly is trending in a better direction. Won't play Week 15
The Chiefs didn't activate Hardman (abdomen) from injured reserve Saturday, meaning he won't be available for Sunday's game against the Texans, Charles Goldman of USA Today reports.
Analysis: Though the Chiefs opened Hardman's 21-day evaluation window by designating him for return from IR on Wednesday, the team evidently determined that the receiver needed more practice time before suiting up for the first time since Week 9. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that the Chiefs expect Hardman to make his return from an abdominal injury Week 16 versus the Seahawks.

Could return next week
Hardman (abdomen) isn't expected to be activated off injured reserve prior to Sunday's game at Houston, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Kadarius Toney (hamstring) is expected to make his return after a three-game absence, meaning the Chiefs should have a capable trio of wideouts ready to go this weekend even while Hardman remains out. The speedy receiver hasn't played since injuring his abdomen back in Week 9, but Schefter believes he could make his return Week 16 against the Seahawks.

Coach Andy Reid said Friday that he's leaning against playing Hardman (abdomen) in Sunday's game against the Texans, Matt McMullen of the Chiefs' official site reports.

The Chiefs designated Hardman (abdomen) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, with head coach Andy Reid noting that the wide receiver will have a "ramp-up process" throughout the week, Pete Sweeney of ArrowheadPride.com reports.
Analysis: After having spent the requisite four games on IR, Hardman is now eligible to practice and potentially return to the 53-man roster ahead of Sunday's game against the Texans. Likely to return in 2022
Coach Andy Reid doesn't think Hardman's abdominal injury is season-ending and described it as short-term Friday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Short-term is relative here, as Hardman already has been placed on injured reserve, but Reid seems optimistic that the fourth-year wide receiver will be back after a minimum four-week IR stint. Hardman had six receptions (nine targets) for 79 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 20-17 overtime win over the Titans.
Analysis: Hardman continued his recent touchdown frenzy fresh off the bye, scoring his third receiving touchdown in as many games. The speedy wideout was unable to replicate the rare pair of rushing scores he produced in his last outing -- he had no rushing attempts Sunday -- but his recent usage as Patrick Mahomes' third or fourth receiving option seems to be real. Analysis: While he once again didn't see much target volume, Hardman came up big, hauling in a three-yard TD strike from Patrick Mahomes late in the third quarter to tie the score at 17-17. It was the first TD for the speedster since Kansas City's opener, and his limited role in the passing game makes him tough to use on fantasy rosters heading into a Week 7 meeting with the 49ers.

Catches one pass in win
Hardman caught his lone target for four yards in Sunday's 41-31 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: On a day when the Chiefs offense was clicking, Hardman was not a major part of the game plan and saw just one target in the passing game. The veteran wideout operated as the Chiefs' No. 3 receiver, playing behind Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster while playing 46 percent of the team's offensive snaps. Though the wideout has the ability to make big plays, Hardman's limited opportunities make him hard to trust in a Week 5 matchup with the Raiders.

Avoids Week 4 injury report
Hardman (heel) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers.
Analysis: Hardman turned in limited practice showings Thursday and Friday after sitting out entirely Wednesday, but that modest participation was enough to gain clearance for Week 4. Despite the offseason departure of Tyreek Hill, Hardman has remained a supporting option in Kansas City's passing game, though he's always capable of breaking a big play or two with Patrick Mahomes throwing him the ball.

Analysis: Hardman managed the heel issue heading into last week's loss to the Colts, but he didn't carry a designation into the game and played 43 of the Chiefs' 63 snaps on offense. Minimal contribution against Colts
Hardman gathered in his only target for two yards during Sunday's 20-17 defeat versus the Colts.
Analysis: Hardman didn't possess an injury tag leading up to the contest but notably was limited in practice during the week because of a heel issue. Even so, Hardman logged a season-high 43 snaps (69 percent) Sunday as the Chiefs struggled to move the ball on offense. Even with turnover at the wide receiver position from Tyreek Hill and Demarcus Robinson, Hardman has actually claimed fewer targets per game so far in 2022 (3.7) than he did last season (4.9).

Analysis: Hardman played 56 percent of the offensive snaps in the opener, ranking behind both Marquez Valdes-Scantling and JuJu Smith-Schuster. While the six targets are an encouraging number, the fact that he turned them into just three grabs for just 16 yards -- albeit with a score -- isn't particularly appealing from a fantasy perspective. One catch Thursday
Hardman caught his only target for five yards in Thursday's preseason game against the Packers.
Analysis: The grab came on Kansas City's second possession, and Hardman didn't stay in the game much longer than that. The fourth-year player was effectively the team's No. 1 wide receiver in the preseason finale with JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) and Marquez Valdes-Scantling (concussion) both sidelined, but it's still not clear if Hardman will see a significant increase in his role compared to last season -- when he set career highs with 59 catches on 83 targets for 693 yards -- once the entire group is…read more

Returns to practice
Hardman (groin) is returning to practice Monday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Hardman left practice last Wednesday and was held out of a preseason game against the Commanders on Saturday. With JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) also unavailable, the Chiefs used Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Justin Watson as their starting wideouts, with rookie Skyy Moore coming on as the No. 3. The week before in the preseason opener, Hardman worked as the No. 3 with the starters while Moore played with the backups.

Hardman (groin) isn't going through pregame warmups ahead of Saturday's preseason game against Washington, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: The Chiefs are expected to play their starters but won't have Hardman or JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee) available, potentially giving rookie Skyy Moore some playing time with QB Patrick Mahomes. Other candidates for added snaps include Justin Watson, Josh Gordon, Daurice Fountain, Cornell Powell and Corey Coleman.

Analysis: On the plus side, per Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com, coach Andy Reid relayed that Hardman is making progress and hasn't been ruled out for Saturday's preseason contest against Washington. While it's possible that the wideout is held out for precautionary reasons, it does appear that Hardman's injury isn't a long-term concern.

Hardman's groin injury isn't considered serious, Independent NFL reporter Dov Kleiman reports.
Analysis: The timing in mid-August could still put his Week 1 availability in question, but it at least seems Hardman is expected to avoid a long-term absence. He's been competing for WR snaps and targets in a group that also includes JuJu Smith-Schuster (knee), Marquez Valdes-Scantling and Skyy Moore. Hardman left Wednesday's practice with a groin injury, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: Initial reports haven't indicated the severity of Hardman's injury, but for now he should be considered day-to-day as Saturday's preseason contest against the Commanders approaches. Vying for deep-threat role
Quarterback Patrick Mahomes indicated last week that Hardman has been filling "that spot that Tyreek did on those deep routes" during training camp, NFL.com reports.
Analysis: While the Chiefs acquired several new free-agent toys at wide receiver this offseason, Hardman is one of the few holdovers from last year and has a history with Mahomes. He hasn't lived up to the second-round billing outside of a serviceable rookie campaign, but perhaps 2022 will finally be the campaign Hardman breaks out after playing in Hill's shadow early in his career.

Both Hardman and rookie second-round pick Skyy Moore are currently sitting out OTAs due to hamstring injuries, leaving opportunities for increased reps behind JuJu Smith-Schuster and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Gains new competition
Hardman has new competition at the wideout position after the Chiefs signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling to a three-year contract Thursday, Tod Palmer of KSHB 41 Kansas City reports.
Analysis: It's still a net gain for Hardman in terms of potential for production in 2022 with Valdes-Scantling swapping in for star wideout Tyreek Hill. However, the Chiefs also picked up first- and second-round draft picks in the deal that sent Hill to Miami, so there's a relatively strong chance at least one of those picks will be another wideout.

Plays key role in OT win
Hardman gained 31 yards and a touchdown on two carries and hauled in his lone target for 26 yards Sunday in Kansas City's 42-36 overtime win over the Bills in the divisional round.
Analysis: Hardman's 25-yard scamper for a touchdown with just over two minutes remaining in the first half helped give his team its largest lead of the day, but that advantage would prove short-lived in a game where both offenses were trading punches throughout. Steps up in win
Hardman recorded eight receptions on 11 targets for 103 yards in Saturday's 28-24 win over Denver. He added one rush for 10 yards.
Analysis: Tyreek Hill (heel) was hobbled for the majority of the game, so Hardman stepped into the big-play role in the Kansas City offense. His performance was highlighted by gains of 44 and 21 yards, with the former helping secure the win on the final drive of the contest. The end result was his first career game with over 100 receiving yards. Though aided by a 17th game, Hardman also recorded new bests in receptions and yards across his three seasons as a professional.

Big gain on lone target
Hardman caught his only target for a 53-yard gain Sunday against the Bengals.
Analysis: Hardman saw just 18 offensive snaps in the contest, his third-lowest total of the 2021 season. He did make the most of his one look as a receiver, but his dwindling playing time doesn't bode well for his fantasy prospects moving forward. The third-year wideout hasn't really made the leap many were hoping for and doesn't appear to be headed in a direction toward doing that anytime soon.

Tallies second TD of 2021
Hardman racked up three catches for 31 yards and a touchdown on five targets Sunday versus the Steelers.
Analysis: After a couple of down weeks in his offensive involvement, Hardman has seen his usage spike again in the last couple of weeks, seeing a combined nine targets. He's also been looked to in the red zone three times in the last pair of weeks, which is a good sign after he went without a look in that area in the two games prior. Even so, Hardman remains off the fantasy radar in most leagues with just 50 catches for 537 yards and a pair of scores on the season.

Hardman reeled in just two passes for 11 yards on four targets Thursday against the Chargers.
Analysis: Hardman did see his snap percentage jump slightly to 44 on the week after playing just 37 percent of snaps the week prior, though game script likely comes into play in that regard. Hardman did break open in the end zone on what could have been a fourth-down touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes, but Mahomes' pass fell short, preventing Hardman from reaching pay dirt for just the second time this season. Makes most of limited work
Hardman snared both of his targets for 59 yards in Sunday's game against the Raiders. He also rushed once for no gain.
Analysis: Hardman did at least see a slight increase in his usage on offense (37 percent of snaps) compared to the last two games (17 percent each), and the third-year wideout made the most of his pair of looks, making grabs of 44 and 15 yards. If Hardman continues to produce on offense and eventually improves as a blocker, he could become a viable fantasy option again at some point. However, that point isn't the present, and he can be left on waiver wires in most leagues.

Playing time decreasing
Hardman saw the field for just nine offensive snaps and caught his only target for 12 yards Sunday against the Broncos.
Analysis: Hardman has seen his playing time shrink to a new low over the past two games, as he's played a total of 20 offensive snaps between the two. This doesn't bode well for the once-promising young wideout, who has been unable to follow up his 2019 rookie season with the breakout campaign many were hoping to see. Hardman seems to be nothing more than a potential stash in dynasty at this point with hopes of a future turnaround.

Quiet in win
Hardman caught two of three targets for 25 yards in Sunday's 19-9 win over the Cowboys.
Analysis: Hardman played just 12 of the Chiefs' 68 offensive snaps in the contest, accounting for a season-low 18 percent snap share. The 23-year-old wideout was already struggling to meet expectations this season, and his low snap totals over the past two games aren't a promising sign for his ability to turn things around in 2021. Kansas City is on bye Week 12, so Hardman will have to wait until Dec. 5 against the Broncos to try and submit a bounce-back performance.

Season-low snap count
Hardman recorded two catches for 27 yards on three targets Sunday against the Raiders.
Analysis: While Hardman's production wasn't too far out of line from what he'd been receiving recently, it's notable his snap count fell to a season-low 23 on offense against Las Vegas. He dropped another pass in the contest, which may be part of the cause for his limited opportunities. Either way, it's not exactly a great sign regarding his fantasy viability for future weeks.

Another quiet game
Hardman hauled in three of his six targets for 20 yards Sunday against the Packers.
Analysis: Hardman did return to the 60 percent range in terms of snap percentage, which is at least a positive note after he played only 48 percent the week prior. That being said, the third-year wideout was unable to make much out of the extra time on the field. He's not a reliable fantasy option at this point, though Hardman can post the occasional outburst.

Analysis: Hardman trailed only Tyreek Hill in targets and receiving yards, with his long gain of 24 yards marking Kansas City's biggest offensive play of the night. The third-year wideout has now topped 60 yards in three of his last four outings, building some consistency in the passing game. Racks up 62 yards
Hardman recorded four receptions on five targets for 62 yards in Sunday's 31-13 win over Washington.
Analysis: Hardman tallied the Chiefs' longest gain of the game when he hauled in a deep pass for 49 yards late in the first quarter. He was otherwise limited to short gains and also lost a fumble. Even so, Hardman has seen surprisingly consistent target volume early on this season. Through six games, he has 35 targets while his previous career-high is 62 across a full season.

Analysis: Hardman wasn't able to break off any huge plays as Patrick Mahomes was under duress from the Bills' pass rush for the majority of the game. Those with shares of the wide receiver will be pleased to see how involved the speedster remained in the offense despite the recent addition of Josh Gordon (one catch for 11 yards). Muted day versus Eagles
Hardman reeled in two of his three targets for six yards and rushed twice for another 25 yards Sunday versus the Eagles.
Analysis: Hardman saw a season-low offensive snap percentage (54 percent) on the day that matched his season-low target count to go with it. Part of that may be due to the fact that the Chiefs held a comfortable second-half lead that allowed them to run the ball a bit more than in the past, but it still doesn't bode particularly well for future contests, especially with Josh Gordon joining the mix this week.

The third-year speedster thus far has been relatively underwhelming in his No. 2 receiver role, generating an 11-107 line and Sunday's touchdown through three contests. Hardman was not targeted but rushed once for eight yards in Friday night's 28-25 preseason win over the Vikings.
Analysis: Hardman saw the field with Kansas City's starters before Demarcus Robinson, furthering the notion that his role will be expanded this season following Sammy Watkins' departure. Although he wasn't targeted Friday, the Chiefs still managed to get the ball in Hardman's hands offensively, looking to capitalize on his blazing speed. Analysis: Hardman took the field with Patrick Mahomes and the starters on the opening drive. The third-year wideout was targeted on a short third down but dropped the pass. Hardman and Mahomes didn't return to the field the rest of the night. Analysis: On a positive note, Hardman sported his largest offensive snap count percentage (61) since his 68 percent mark back in Week 9 when Sammy Watkins was sidelined. That was likely the result of the Chiefs being in a tight one with the Falcons, though the second-year wideout could see a bit more action next week if the staff elects to hold out or limit the work of Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce to ensure their health for the postseason with the No. 1 seed in the AFC already locked up.

Hardman remains on the reserve/COVID-19 list and didn't practice Wednesday, Herbie Teope of The Kansas City Star reports.
Analysis: The Chiefs placed Hardman on the COVID-19 list back on Nov. 11, and the second-year wideout apparently still hasn't completed the protocol to return following the team's Week 10 bye. Hardman's status for Sunday's game against the Raiders thus appears murky, but the Chiefs at least received some good news among their receiving corps after Sammy Watkins (hamstring) resumed practicing without limitations Wednesday. With Watkins poised to play Week 11, Hardman's snap count will likely take a hit if…read more

Lands on COVID-19 list
The Chiefs placed Hardman on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday, Field Yates of ESPN reports.
Analysis: Hardman's placement on the list indicates that he has either tested positive for COVID-19 or has been in close contact with an infected person or persons. The Chiefs are on bye this week and won't play again until Nov. 22 against the Raiders.

Small contribution versus Panthers
Hardman recorded three receptions for 48 yards on four targets during Sunday's game versus the Panthers.
Analysis: Coming off of arguably his best outing of the season last week versus the Jets, Hardman disappeared again for most of Sunday's contest. He should continue to see work moving forward but could see his snap counts deteriorate a bit with Sammy Watkins (hamstring) nearing his return to action.

Posts his best game of 2020
Hardman caught seven of nine targets for 96 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 35-9 win over the Jets.
Analysis: Hardman was overshadowed by Travis Kelce (109 yards and a touchdown) and Tyreek Hill (98 yards and two touchdowns), but quarterback Patrick Mahomes managed to keep all his receivers happy with five touchdown passes against the overmatched Jets secondary. The 2019 second-round pick got the scoring started by taking a touch-pass 30 yards to the house en route to season highs in catches and yards. Hardman's level of involvement has varied drastically from week to week, making him a high-risk,…read more

Makes most of limited touches
Hardman reeled in his two targets for 57 yards and ran once for another 13 Sunday versus the Broncos.
Analysis: Hardman's fantasy stock seemed to be on the rise following the hamstring injury for Sammy Watkins, but even that hasn't been enough to get the second-year wideout on the field consistently ahead of Demarcus Robinson. Given Hardman's explosiveness, there's likely a concern about his abilities as a blocker and route runner at this stage in his career that's keeping him from consistently seeing the field. It seems unlikely that's going to change in 2020, but it could be the case in 2021 when a…read more

Blanked on offense
Hardman failed to haul in his only target during Monday's game versus the Bills.
Analysis: Even with Sammy Watkins (hamstring) sidelined Monday, Hardman played just 40 percent of the offensive snaps and was unable to get anything done on the plays he was in the game. Demarcus Robinson led the wideouts with 95 percent of the snaps played and looks to have clearly overtaken Hardman, which isn't a great sign for Hardman whom many experts pegged as a breakout candidate in 2020. He'll aim to get involved again in Week 7 versus a Broncos defense that held the Patriots to just 12 points…read more

Larger role on tap
Hardman is expected to handle more snaps while Sammy Watkins (hamstring) is unavailable, Adam Teicher of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: Hardman figures to be one of the primary beneficiaries of Watkins being sidelined for what is expected to be at least a couple of weeks due to the issue. He compiled 95 all-purpose yards -- 50 receiving and 45 on kickoff returns -- during Sunday's tilt, but was targeted a measly three times despite playing a season-high 69 percent of the offensive snaps (50 total). Look for that number to receive another bump up while Watkins is out, and Hardman could have an opportunity to carve out a larger…read more

Records 95 all-purpose yards
Hardman brought in two of three targets for 50 yards and returned two kickoffs for 45 yards in the Chiefs' 40-32 loss to the Raiders on Sunday.
Analysis: Hardman recorded a 37-yard reception for the majority of his production from scrimmage, and he failed to score a touchdown for the first time in three games. However, fellow wideout Sammy Watkins left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury, and if his absence extends into a Week 6 matchup against the Bills, Hardman could line up for additional opportunities in the passing game in that contest.

Scores in second straight
Hardman caught all four of his targets for 27 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 26-10 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: Hardman's key contribution came on a six-yard shovel pass that he took for a touchdown midway through the fourth quarter. That play not only extended Kansas City's lead at a critical juncture, but it also gave Hardman a touchdown in consecutive outings. Given all the mouths to feed in the Chiefs' high-flying offense, it's tough to project Hardman's weekly production, but the jet-heeled wideout can certainly make impact plays when called upon, as seen on Monday's short score.

Long touchdown versus Ravens
Hardman caught four of six targets for 81 yards and a touchdown in Monday night's 34-20 win over the Ravens.
Analysis: Hardman's performance was highlighted by his 49-yard score prior to halftime. On that play, his sensational speed was on full display, giving quarterback Patrick Mahomes a free target downfield following a well-executed double-move. Through three games, Hardman has elevated his numbers each week, and although he's still lacking consistency outside of devastating deep shots like Monday's score, the second-year pro is nonetheless trending in the right direction ahead of Week 4's game versus the…read more

Adds snaps in Week 2
Hardman reeled in two of his three targets for 30 yards in Sunday's game versus the Chargers.
Analysis: Hardman's final line didn't really inspire a ton of confidence, and his increased playing time came as a result of Sammy Watkins (head) leaving the game. His snap percentage increased from 29 percent to 65 percent in Week 2, hinting that Hardman could have a big workload on tap if Watkins misses time beyond Sunday's tilt.

Disappointing opener
Hardman compiled just one catch for six yards on his only target in Thursday's season opener versus Houston.
Analysis: Hardman was pegged as a prime candidate for a breakout season in 2020, but his effort in the opener seems to suggest he hasn't even done enough to warrant consistent reps. He saw just 20 offensive snaps on the night, finishing not only behind Tyreek Hill (59) and Sammy Watkins (55) but also with 13 fewer than Demarcus Robinson. It's still too early to write off Hardman, but it's certainly a disappointing start to 2020.

Likely set for improvement in 2020
Hardman should make significant improvements on the offensive side of the ball in 2020, Nate Taylor of The Athletic reports.
Analysis: Hardman's 2019 rookie campaign started fairly strong, with the rookie notching a pair of touchdowns and logging hefty snap counts through the first four weeks. Unfortunately, his role dwindled down the stretch, and he finished out the year with 26 catches for 538 yards and six touchdowns. Another offseason -- albeit an unusual one -- in the Chiefs' system should give Hardman an opportunity to improve on some weaknesses, namely as a run blocker. Given Sammy Watkins' rather lackluster campaign…read more

Kept quiet in Super Bowl
Hardman caught one pass for two yards and lost six yards on one carry in a 31-20 win over the 49ers in the Super Bowl.
Analysis: Hardman added three kick returns for 58 yards but called for a fair catch on both of the punts he fielded. He was limited to a 28 percent snap share on offense, working behind Tyreek Hill (87 percent), Sammy Watkins (87 percent) and Demarcus Robinson (49 percent). With Watkins a potential cap casualty and Robinson at the end of his rookie contract, Hardman likely will enter his second pro season as Kansas City's No. 2 or 3 option at wide receiver. The 21-year-old was quiet in the playoffs, but…read more

Draws crucial penalty
Hardman caught his lone target for an eight-yard gain in Sunday's 35-24 win over Tennessee, adding four kickoff returns for 86 yards, one punt return for seven yards and also drawing a 41-yard pass interference penalty.
Analysis: The ticky-tack penalty was arguably Hardman's biggest contribution, converting a third-and-10 with just under four minutes remaining in the game. Although it didn't show up in the box score, Hardman's role on offense expanded from a 17 percent snap share the previous week (a 51-31 win over Houston) to a 40 percent share in Sunday's win over Tennessee. Accordingly, Demarcus Robinson dipped from 58 percent to 37 percent, catching two passes for 31 yards in the process. The exact split will be…read more

Rips huge return for score
Hardman had a 30-yard reception on his lone target during Sunday's 31-21 win over the Chargers. He also returned two kicks for 117 yards and a touchdown and three punts for 21 yards.
Analysis: The Chiefs were down early in the second half when Hardman took the kickoff and high-stepped up the sideline before cutting back for a 104-yard kick return for a touchdown, the first return touchdown of his career. Hardman has caught multiple passes in just one game since Week 8, but he boasts an unreal 20.7 yards-per-reception average this season. After the Chief's first-round bye, they will take on the Patriots, Texans or Bills. In two games against New England and Houston this season,…read more

Comes up empty
Hardman was not targeted in Sunday's game against the Bears.
Analysis: Hardman did log 35 percent of the offensive snaps, an increase from less than 25 in each of the last two tilts, but it didn't turn into anything this week. The rookie is a touchdown-dependent DFS dart at this point, but he could work his way into a larger role in future seasons.

Good to go
Hardman (glute) does not carry an injury designation for Sunday night's game against the Bears.
Analysis: Hardman was added to the Chiefs' Week 16 injury report after being limited at practice Thursday. His return to a full session Friday, however, paves the way for the rookie to suit up Sunday. Hardman has found the end zone six times in 14 games this season, but a lack of volume of late has limited him to a hit-or-miss TD-dependent fantasy option.

Added to Week 16 injury report
Hardman (glute) was limited at practice Thursday.
Analysis: Hardman was added to the Chiefs' Week 16 injury report Thursday, so his status is worth monitoring in advance of Sunday night's game against the Bears. Though Hardman has logged six TDs in 14 games to date, he remains a hit-or-miss fantasy option, given his sporadic volume in Kansas City's passing attack. The 2019 second-rounder parlayed his 14 snaps in Week 15's win over the Broncos into one catch (on two targets) for 10 yards.

Minimal Week 15 impact
Hardman was held to one catch for 10 yards on two targets Sunday versus the Broncos.
Analysis: Hardman's 14 offensive snaps mirrored the 14 he received last week against the Patriots, though he made the most of his touches in Week 14, recording a 48-yard touchdown reception on his lone grab. The rookie wideout has proven to be the deep threat the team expected when it drafted him, totaling four catches of 40 yards or longer and eight catches of 20 yards or longer on his 25 receptions this season. With six touchdowns on the board as well, Hardman may have the makeup of a future regular on…read more

Grabs long TD in win
Hardman caught his only target for a 48-yard touchdown in Sunday's 23-16 win over the Patriots.
Analysis: Patrick Mahomes appeared to injure his throwing hand early in the game and didn't take many shots downfield afterwards, but he did connect with Hardman on a long TD in the second quarter -- although the rookie did have to come back for the underthrown ball before turning on the jets to beat safety Duron Harmon and get to the end zone. Minimal Week 13 showing
Hardman rushed once for nine yards and didn't haul in a pass Sunday versus the Raiders.
Analysis: Hardman saw a drastic dip in his playing time this week with Tyreek Hill available, ranking fourth at the position in total snaps behind Hill, Sammy Watkins and Demarcus Robinson. The rookie has some viable fantasy weeks under his belt, but it would likely require missed time from either Hill or Watkins down the stretch for him to warrant ownership in most redraft leagues.

Slow day despite added snaps
Hardman collected two of his four targets for 13 yards Monday against the Chargers.
Analysis: Hardman saw a bump in his snap count following Tyreek Hill's (hamstring) injury, but it didn't raise his fantasy value much on the night. A significant workload increase could be on tap again following the bye if Hill sits following the bye week, potentially positioning Hardman for fantasy relevance in some formats versus a subpar Raiders pass defense.

Goes big with only target
Hardman reeled in his lone target for a 63-yard touchdown Sunday against the Titans.
Analysis: Hardman saw a slight increase in his offensive snap percentage Sunday to 22 from 18 and 15 in the previous two weeks. He'll need to use his speed to take advantage of his minimal target share, but he's managed to do just that in three of the last four games, turning just six targets and five receptions into three touchdowns. Still, the lack of volume likely makes Hardman a flier fantasy option in most formats.

Disappears in Week 9
Hardman was not targeted in Sunday's game against the Vikings, but he did run the ball once for seven yards.
Analysis: Hardman was on the field offensively for just 11 snaps and 20 combined in the last two weeks, a signal that he's well behind Demarcus Robinson (24 snaps) in pecking order at this point. Hardman did contribute in the return game, going over 100 yards on kicks and adding 17 more on punts, but he also coughed the ball up once. At this point, the rookie doesn't look to be anything more than a return specialist with a few offensive plays mixed in.
