Pre-Season Outlook

The Cowboys surprisingly waited until the fifth round of the 2025 Draft to address arguably the weakest backfield in the league, but they at least double-dipped once they got their feet wet, taking Jaydon Blue at No. 149 and Mafah at No. 239 (Round 7). While Blue and his 4.38 speed rightfully are getting most of the attention in fantasy circles, Mafah also offers something unique, at 6-foot-1, 234. He never had more than 108 receiving yards in a season at Clemson, but he powered his way to 2,080 rushing yards and 21 TDs over the last two years. In a Dallas backfield where the veterans are low-paid retreads Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, it shouldn't be shocking if Mafah carves out a power role, or at least takes some of the short-yardage work.
