Four touches against Tampa Bay
McCloud caught all three of his targets for nine yards and added one carry for 17 yards in Sunday's 31-26 win over the Buccaneers.
Analysis: McCloud's three targets in the contest were tied for a season low, and the veteran was unable to get much going as the No. 3 wide receiver behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney. As long as both London and Mooney are healthy, McCloud will find it difficult to produce consistently in a passing attack with several mouths to feed. Through eight games, the 28-year-old wideout has recorded 29 receptions for 277 yards and has yet to find the end zone. Up next for McCloud is a Week 9 matchup against…read more

Minimal production in loss
McCloud caught two of four targets for nine yards during Sunday's 34-14 loss to the Seahawks.
Analysis: McCloud played more than 80 percent of Atlanta's offensive snaps for a sixth straight game but finished with a season-low nine yards. His fantasy upside remains limited, but McCloud is only seven yards away from tying his season-long, career-high mark of 277 receiving yards, which he set in 2021 with Pittsburgh.

Secondary role in double-digit win
McCloud caught three of four targets for 30 yards and rushed once for three yards during Sunday's 38-20 win over the Panthers.
Analysis: After a season-best performance in Week 5, McCloud's role slightly shrunk as Atlanta leaned on the run game versus Carolina. He played 82 percent of the team's offensive snaps, marking the first time since Week 1 that McCloud didn't play at least 95 percent. The veteran slot receiver remains a key part of the Falcons' new-look offense, but his production has been lackluster, recording 24 catches for 259 yards and zero TDs through six games.

Season-best performance
McCloud caught six of nine targets for 66 yards during Thursday's 36-30 overtime win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: McCloud played nearly every single offensive snap for a fourth straight game. He recorded season-high marks in receptions, targets and yards, but the veteran has yet to catch a touchdown this season. McCloud set career highs in Pittsburgh during the 2021 season, posting 39 catches for 277 yards. He already has 21 receptions for 229 yards this season. With Rondale Moore (knee) out for the season, McCloud is locked in as Atlanta's No. 3 wideout behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney.

Cleared for Thursday
McCloud (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Thursday's game against Tampa Bay.
Analysis: McCloud played 98 percent of Atlanta's snaps on offense in a 26-24 win over the Saints on Sunday, moving his snap share for the season up to 86 percent. He's also seen a surprising amount of the Falcons' targets, with 19 percent share putting him slightly behind wideout Darnell Mooney (21 percent) and well ahead of running back Bijan Robinson (14 percent) and tight end Kyle Pitts (13 percent). Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson's extreme reliance on three-wideout sets has been kind to McCloud,…read more

Limited in practice Tuesday
McCloud (ankle) is listed as limited on Tuesday's injury report, D. Orlando Ledbetter of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Analysis: McCloud has logged back-to-back limited practice sessions ahead of Thursday's divisional matchup against the Buccaneers. If he is able to practice in at least a limited fashion once more, it will bode well for his chances of being available in Week 5. KhaDarel Hodge would figure to see increased work behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney if McCloud is sidelined for the contest.

DNP on Monday's estimation
McCloud (ankle) was listed as a non-participant on Monday's practice estimation, Marc Raimondi of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McCloud caught a season-high six passes for 52 yards in the Falcons' Week 4 win over the Saints, but it appears he picked up an ankle injury in the process. The 28-year-old wideout likely will need to upgrade to at least limited participation either Tuesday or Wednesday to have a chance at suiting up Thursday night. If McCloud is unable to go Week 5, expect KhaDarel Hodge to see increased work in Atlanta's wide receiver corps.

Season-high six receptions in win
McCloud caught six of seven targets for 52 yards during Sunday's 26-24 win over the Saints. He also returned two kicks for 39 yards.
Analysis: Kirk Cousins attempted a season-high 35 passes Sunday, allowing McCloud to notch season highs in targets and receptions. The slot wideout has seen at least five targets in three of the first four games, totaling 146 yards on 13 receptions during those contests. Kyle Pitts was held without a catch on three targets versus New Orleans and hasn't developed a rapport with Cousins yet, and until that happens, McCloud should continue to benefit. Season-low three targets in loss
McCloud caught two of three targets for 17 yards and rushed once for 20 yards during Sunday's 22-17 loss to the Chiefs. He also returned one kickoff for 28 yards.
Analysis: McCloud played 95 percent of the Falcons' offensive snaps but finished with season lows in targets, receptions and receiving yards. However, he somewhat salvaged the night with a 20-yard run. Offensive coordinator Zac Robinson has gotten McCloud involved in the running game in back-to-back games, and the wideout appears to have solidified himself as the clear No. 3 option behind Drake London and Darnell Mooney. Secures three receptions in win
McCloud caught three of five targets for 42 yards during Monday's 22-21 win over the Eagles. He also rushed once for three yards.
Analysis: After leading the Falcons in targets while playing only 48 percent of the offensive snaps in Week 1, McCloud played every offensive snap during Monday Night Football. He finished third on the team in receiving yards behind Darnell Mooney (3-88-1) and Drake London (6-54-1). Team-high seven targets
McCloud caught four of seven targets for 52 yards during Sunday's 18-10 loss to the Steelers. He also returned two kickoffs for 56 yards.
Analysis: McCloud surprisingly had more targets and receptions than No. 1 wideout Drake London, who finished with two catches on three targets for 15 yards. McCloud played 30 offensive snaps, operating as the WR3 behind London (56) and Darnell Mooney (53). Given his snap share, McCloud isn't likely to lead Atlanta in receiving regularly but should continue to see a handful of targets per game, especially if opposing defenses divert most of their attention to London. Getting regular first-team work
McCloud has been getting regular first-team snaps and "seems to have the inside track on the slot receiver role" in Atlanta's offense, according to ESPN's Marc Raimondi reports.
Analysis: Multiple Atlanta beat reporters have McCloud working ahead of Rondale Moore, not only during training camp but dating back to spring practices. It sounds like McCloud has even seen a good number of targets from Kirk Cousins, including passes deep downfield. That's somewhat surprising given that McCloud played for four different teams over the past six seasons and amassed more punt returns (138) and kickoff returns (108) than receptions (90). Getting first-team looks
McCloud got first-team reps this spring and caught some passes from QB Kirk Cousins for big plays, ESPN.com's Marc Raimondi reports.
Analysis: McCloud mostly served as a return specialist and fourth/fifth WR while playing for four different teams the past six seasons, but he got five starts and 66 targets with the Steelers back in 2021, catching 39 passes for 277 yards en route to a league-low 4.2 yards per target. The Falcons signed McCloud to a two-year deal worth up to $6 million Thursday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Analysis: McCloud has agreed to terms with Atlanta after spending the last two years of his career in San Francisco. The 27-year-old wideout was primarily utilized as a return specialist in 2023, returning 24 punts and 10 kicks for 428 yards. McCloud played just 28 percent of the 49ers' offensive snaps last season, catching 12 of his 15 targets for 135 yards and no touchdowns. The 27-year-old still sat out five games over the course of the regular season due to injury, with Deebo Samuel and rookie Ronnie Bell handling return duties in McCloud's absence. Plays bigger role in Week 18
McCloud recorded three catches (on four targets) for 22 yards, one carry for seven yards and two punt returns for 17 yards during Sunday's 21-20 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: McCloud completed an IR stint of five games and was able to suit up for the regular-season finale, and he got a bit more run on offense (59 percent share) than normal with the 49ers sitting out key starters and capping fellow WRs Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk to cameos. The 27-year-old was designated for return from IR on Wednesday and proceeded to turn in three full practices this week, so he looks as though he's fully moved past the rib issue that has sidelined him for the last five games. Analysis: McCloud was a full participant in his return to practice Wednesday, his first since landing on injured reserve Dec. 9. The 49ers will have a full 21-day window to evaluate the wide receiver/return specialist before deciding whether to add him to the 53-man roster or keep him on IR for the rest of the season, but McCloud could be activated ahead of Sunday's game against the Rams if he shows well in practice this week.

David Lombardi of The Athletic reports Monday that the 49ers are expected to open the injured reserve window for McCloud (ribs) this week.
Analysis: McCloud is expected to return to practice after being placed on IR on Dec. 9. If his window to return opens this week, McCloud could make his return for the 49ers' regular-season finale against the Rams on Sunday. McCloud (wrist) is expected to be sidelined for two months after breaking his left wrist at a recent training camp practice, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: The 49ers are optimistic McCloud could return a little earlier than his current eight-week estimation. However, he is expected to be placed on injured reserve after their initial roster cut on Aug. 29, which would make him eligible to return after a minimum of four games. He averaged 10.8 yards per punt return and 23.0 yards per kick return for the team in 2022 and served as their No. 4 wide receiver.

Going to miss time
McCloud suffered a broken hand during a recent training camp practice and the injury will require surgery, Matt Maiocco of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: McCloud is expected to miss at least eight weeks, which will likely cost him the first four games of the regular season. The Clemson product was expected to handle return duties while also serving as a depth option in the team's receiving corps this year. His absence will now open up an opportunity for someone else to break camp on the 53-man roster, with Ronnie Bell and Willie Snead both currently possible options to seize that role.

Fills versatile role with new club
McCloud went without a target across 12 snaps on offense in Sunday's win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: McCloud had played north of 40 percent of the snaps on offense in each of the 49ers' previous four games, but with Deebo Samuel (ankle/knee) returning to action for the regular-season finale, McCloud saw his role get downsized. The 26-year-old is slated to serve as a depth piece within the 49ers' receiving corps heading into the postseason, with McCloud most likely to provide his biggest impact in the return game for the duration of San Francisco's postseason run. Converts long catch in win
McCloud had one reception (two targets) for 41 yards in Sunday's 37-34 overtime win over the Raiders.
Analysis: McCloud produced a big-splash play for the second consecutive week, although this one fell short of going for a touchdown. The return specialist is proving that he can be a home-run threat on offense, but his role is too inconsistent to be relied upon in fantasy. McCloud has recorded more than one reception just once this season (Week 7), so more of the same can be expected against the Cardinals on Sunday.

Rips off huge TD run
McCloud broke off a 71-yard touchdown run and did not catch his lone target in Saturday's 37-20 win over Washington.
Analysis: McCloud did his best Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle) impression when he took a wide zone handoff for a 71-yard touchdown. It was the return specialist's fourth rushing attempt this season, with the previous three tallying just seven yards back in Week 14. McCloud's usage as a receiver hasn't increased in the two games sans Samuel, so this unique touchdown run shouldn't have fantasy managers rushing to the waiver wire ahead of San Francisco's Week 17 matchup against Las Vegas.

Garners three targets in win
McCloud caught one of three targets for 16 yards in Thursday's 21-13 win over Seattle.
Analysis: McCloud was elevated to third on the receiver depth chart with Deebo Samuel (ankle) sidelined, but his offensive usage did not expand much with the elevated role. The return specialist combined for 84 return yards for fantasy league's that factor in that statistic. Samuel is likely to miss Week 16's contest against Washington, giving McCloud another shot to generate value as a cheap DFS flier against the Commanders next Saturday.

Analysis: McCloud saw an uptick in offensive snaps in the second half of Sunday's blowout win after Deebo Samuel (knee/ankle) was carted off the field. The latter suffered a pair of injuries and is expected to miss time. Records 12-yard catch
McCloud played six of the 49ers' 70 snaps on offense and recorded a 12-yard reception in Sunday's 13-0 win over the Saints.
Analysis: After failing to corral his lone target in the 49ers' Week 11 win over the Cardinals, McCloud got back on the stat sheet Sunday with his 11th catch of the season. The former Clemson standout is clearly behind Deebo Samuel, Brandon Aiyuk and Jauan Jennings on the depth chart at receiver and is unlikely to see his role expand unless one of those three players misses time.

McCloud failed to catch his lone target in Monday's 38-10 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: McCloud logged seven snaps on offense (14 percent) while serving his usual role as the team's primary kick returner. The veteran wideout was coming off a nice three-game stretch in which he averaged 36.3 receiving yards a game and scored one touchdown. McCloud's minimal role on offense makes him a fantasy afterthought heading into a Week 12 matchup against the Saints on Sunday.

Converts big play in win
McCloud caught his lone target for 33 yards in Sunday's 22-16 win over the Chargers.
Analysis: Jimmy Garoppolo caught the Chargers in cover zero and dialed up McCloud on a streak for a big gain. It was the return specialist's only target on seven offensive snaps (10 percent). Analysis: McCloud came out of nowhere to post his best offensive game as a professional. Analysis: McCloud was in line to see a slightly expanded role offensively if Jauan Jennings (ankle) was forced to miss the contest. The latter played, leaving McCloud in his usual No. 4 wideout/returner role. The 25-year-old will fill a similar role in Week 6 against the Falcons.

Catches one pass in win
McCloud caught one of three targets for six yards in Sunday's 24-9 win over the Rams.
Analysis: McCloud now has just one catch in each of the 49ers' first four games. Operating as San Francisco's No. 4 receiver, McCloud is not seeing enough opportunities on offense to be considered a viable fantasy starter. The 25-year-old wideout played on just nine of the team's offensive snaps, the least of any 49ers wideout in the contest. Analysis: McCloud got off to a rough start when he slipped on the opening kickoff return and started San Francisco deep in its own territory. Lands with San Francisco
McCloud signed a two-year contract with the 49ers on Thursday, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis: McCloud was a key contributor for the Steelers in 2021. He regularly served as the team's third receiver and managed to haul in a career-best 39 passes for 277 yards. His role as a pass catcher is likely to dwindle in San Francisco as he will slot in behind at least Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk on the depth chart while also battling for targets with tight end George Kittle. As a result, McCloud's primary value could come as a punt returner, as he led the NFL with 367 punt return yards in 2021.

Analysis: McCloud had a consistent target share across the final three weeks of the regular season with at least eight targets in each of those games. However, he mustered only four catches in each appearance and failed to top 40 yards in any of those matchups. The 25-year-old appeared in 16 of 17 games during the regular season and caught 39 of 66 targets for 277 yards while rushing twice for 15 yards. Analysis: McCloud entered Sunday's game with 10 total targets on the season, and he exceeded that mark in his effort against Detroit.
