Elliott's touch volume has kept his fantasy value afloat to some extent, but he's averaging only 3.8 yards per carry and has added little as a receiver, giving him little momentum heading into a big Week 6 clash with the Eagles.

Good volume but mediocre returns

Elliott ran for 49 yards on 19 carries while catching two passes for 32 yards on two targets in a win over Washington on Sunday.

Analysis: The Washington defense showed a lot of respect to the Dallas ground game Sunday, which was unfortunate for Elliott's fantasy investors but played a big role in why Cooper Rush was able to produce efficiently as a passer in the 25-10 win. The former came on a pitch play to the left side of the line and the latter on a one-yard plunge late in the third quarter. Despite the positive performance, Elliott only narrowly held the touch advantage over Tony Pollard, tallying 16 total opportunities to Pollard's 13. Through three games, Elliott has 178 rushing yards on 40 carries.

Little room to run in Week 2

Elliott carried the ball 15 times for 53 yards in Sunday's 20-17 win over the Bengals.

Analysis: He also caught one of two targets but lost four yards on the reception. Zeke led Dallas in rushing yards but was less effective than Tony Pollard, who gained 98 scrimmage yards and a TD on 13 touches. Elliott has yet to have a breakout performance in 2022, but he could get his chance in Week 3 against a Giants defense that just got gashed for 102 yards and a 6.8 YPC by Christian McCaffrey.

Leads backfield in touches

Analysis: Elliott looked to be running well with the opportunities he got, but none of his teammates decided to show up in this primetime matchup. Analysis: The decision to hold Elliott out of exhibition action isn't a surprising one, especially considering he played through a knee injury most of last year. The 27-year-old appears to be fully healthy in camp and ready to rebound after posting a pedestrian 4.2 yards per carry and a career-low 58.9 rushing yards per game in 2021, but Zeke is only 62 touches short of 2,000 for his career and it's fair to wonder exactly how much tread he has left on his tires.

Analysis: While a first-quarter TD salvaged his day from a fantasy perspective, it was overall a poor performance from the Cowboys' lead back. He slipped in the end zone and gave up a safety just before his own score, and he dropped numerous catchable passes from Dak Prescott. Elliott will look to bounce back in Week 4 against a Browns defense that just gave up 5.4 yards a carry and a rushing touchdown to rookie Antonio Gibson.

Eclipses 100 yards, scores TD

Elliott ran for 89 yards and a touchdown on 22 carries while securing six of seven targets for 33 yards during Sunday's 40-39 win against the Falcons. He also committed two first-quarter fumbles, losing one to Atlanta.

Analysis: Elliott has been an elite rusher since the day he entered the NFL, as exhibited by the 1,631 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns he collected during his All-Pro rookie season of 2016. Analysis: This was about as stereotypical of an Ezekiel Elliott performance as it gets; he gained consistent chunks of yardage (4.4 YPC) and finished right around the century mark, found the end zone twice and caught three passes after averaging 3.4 receptions per game in 2019. Elliott (illness) said he's feeling better after testing positive for COVID-19, Jon Machota of The Athletic reports. "I would say I had maybe one or two days when I felt symptoms," Elliott relayed in a Zoom call Wednesday. "Even then, it wasn't too bad. I had a cough and a little bit of shortness of breath. Now, I feel good. I feel normal."

Analysis: Elliott's comments represent his first public statement since word leaked June 15 of his positive test. Until Wednesday, though, it was unclear whether or not he was symptomatic, which he confirmed was the case. Elliott has another week to go of self-isolation and "still can't work out," per John Breech of CBS Sports. However, with training camp likely a month away, Elliott has plenty of time to get his bearings once he's healthy enough to do so.

Tests positive for COVID-19

Elliott is reportedly among the multiple Cowboys and Texans players who have recently tested positive for COVID-19, Grant Gordon of NFL.com reports.

Analysis: Per the report, Elliott's agent relayed to NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport that the running back is "feeling good." Gordon adds that none of the players who reportedly tested positive are thought "to have been in their team facilities and the Cowboys and Texans teams followed proper health protocols." In a statement that Rapoport obtained, the Cowboys noted "due to federal and local privacy laws, we are unable to provide information regarding the personal health of any of our employees."

Could benefit from spread formation

Elliott could be one of the bigger beneficiaries of CeeDee Lamb's addition to the offense, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis: With Randall Cobb on the roster last season, the Cowboys ran plays out of '11' personnel (one running back, one tight end, three wide receivers) roughly two-thirds of the time, forcing defenses to put an extra defensive back on the field instead of a linebacker. Analysis: With Dak Prescott unable to generate much offense through the air, the Philadelphia defense was able to concentrate on stuffing Elliott, and he was held below 50 rushing yards for the first time since Week 11. The fourth-year back will look to finish the season on a high note in next week's must-win game against a Washington defense that just got steamrolled by Saquon Barkley.

Huge game against Rams

Elliott carried the ball 24 times for 117 yards and two touchdowns and caught three of four targets for 43 yards in Sunday's 44-21 win over the Rams.

Analysis: That's now back-to-back two-TD performances for Elliott, while the 160 scrimmage yards were a season high as he came through in a big way for those with fantasy shares in him. The fourth-year RB will look to keep rolling next Sunday in Philadelphia with a chance to lock up the NFC East title against an Eagles defense he gashed for 111 rushing yards and a score in Week 7.

Scores two TDs in loss

Elliott rushed 19 times for 81 yards and two touchdowns and secured two of five targets for 12 yards in the Cowboys' 31-24 loss to the Bears on Thursday.

Analysis: Elliott's play was a bright spot in the Cowboys' third straight defeat, although game script eventually served to cap his volume overall. The Pro Bowler has now logged a sub-20-carry workload in three of his past four games, and he hasn't eclipsed the 100-yard mark since Week 9 versus the Giants. Elliott carried the ball 12 times for 71 yards and caught seven of 10 targets for 66 yards in Thursday's 26-15 loss to the Bills.

Analysis: The running back has topped 100 scrimmage yards in two straight games and seven times this season, but his inability to find the end zone proved costly for the Cowboys. Elliott will look to keep rolling next week on the road against a Bears defense that just gave up 83 rushing yards to his former backup, Bo Scarbrough.

Tops 100 scrimmage yards in loss

Elliott carried the ball 21 times for 86 yards and caught all four of his targets for 40 yards in Sunday's 13-9 loss to the Patriots.

Analysis: Rain put a damper on both team's offenses, but Elliott was still able to deliver triple-digit scrimmage yards for the sixth time in 11 games. The fourth-year RB is now 81 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark for the third time in his career, a milestone he'll try to reach at home on Thanskgiving against the Bills.

Scores two TDs vs. Lions

Elliott carried 16 times for 45 yards, a touchdown, and one fumble Sunday against the Lions. He also caught two of three targets for 28 yards and a touchdown in the 35-27 win.

Analysis: Faced with an excellent matchup against one of the worst run defenses in the league, Elliott fumbled on his first touch and could only manage 2.8 yards per carry. He did, however, record a one-yard TD run in the second quarter and added the decisive score on a 17-yard reception midway through the fourth. Analysis: The Vikings had a clear gameplan to not let Elliott beat them, and they executed it to perfection. It was a bit surprising that coach Jason Garrett did not find more creative ways to get his star back the ball in open space (just three targets). This was easily Elliott's worst fantasy performance this season, as he was at least able to hit pay dirt the three other occasions in which he did not rush for at least 100 yards.
