Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Jerusalem Cheeseheads Beats Up New Orleans VooDoo to Get Shot at Consolation Championship

Jerusalem Cheeseheads crushed New Orleans VooDoo 179.14 to 106.86 while putting up the highest point total of the season. This beatdown was revenge for a loss to New Orleans VooDoo in their last meeting a season ago. Jerusalem Cheeseheads, already one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season, beat their 104.51 per game average by 71%. The margin could have been bigger as Jerusalem Cheeseheads had a starter score zero points (Cade Otton).

Each side had a player that failed to capitalize on opportunites. Interestingly enough, DK Metcalf (on Jerusalem Cheeseheads) and Dontayvion Wicks (New Orleans VooDoo) were able to match each other's futility. They each saw seven targets, yet could reel in just three catches apiece.

For the victors, a few players have been warming up at the right time, most notably Tyjae Spears and Keenan Allen. Over the past four weeks, that duo has surpassed their season scoring averages by 78% and 73%, respectively. On the other hand, Jerusalem Cheeseheads has a player trending in the wrong direction. Cade Otton has fallen significantly short of his year-to-date average recently. Despite the loss, New Orleans VooDoo also had two players peaking for the postseason: Mark Andrews and Josh Allen. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 12.55 and 32.94 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 44% and 35%.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when Jerusalem Cheeseheads matches up against No. 3-seeded Youngstown Mafia. These teams most recently battled in Week 11, with Jerusalem Cheeseheads winning, 90.56 to 74.44. New Orleans VooDoo ended the regular season in ninth place with a record of 6-8. They also ranked ninth in the league with 106.11 points per game. New Orleans VooDoo was one-and-done this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
