Week 17 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Damien Beats James, Celebrates League Championship

Damien improves to 3-0 versus James this season after yet another win, this time by a final score of 134.72 to 119.18. They go to 11-6, while James drops to 10-7. Lamar Jackson (168 Pas Yds, 87 Rsh Yds, 2 Pas TD, 1 Rsh TD) was the determining factor this week, putting up 29.42 points for Damien. Jackson was a great mid-round selection for Damien and has played like a top-tier quarterback. Damien now has a 23.24-point average margin of victory over James in three matchups.

For Damien, the Steelers Defense wasn't just the lone DEF to earn a negative score; they represented the only fantasy starter throughout the whole league in the negatives. De'Von Achane had plenty of opportunities for Damien, but he put up just 38 total yards on 12 touches.

For the victorious side, a couple of players have been getting hot in the playoffs: Ladd McConkey and Mark Andrews. During the playoffs, that duo has topped their season scoring averages by 70% and 35%, respectively. On the other hand, Damien has a pair of players moving in the wrong direction. The Pittsburgh Steelers DEF and Chris Boswell have both substantially underperformed their year-to-date averages during the postseason. Despite the loss, James had several players performing their best in the playoffs, including Jake Elliott and Puka Nacua. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 14.00 and 18.25 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 84% and 49%. Conversely, the losers had two players who struggled in the playoff spotlight: Brian Robinson and Josh Allen.

Damien concluded the regular season in third place with a record of 9-6. In terms of scoring average, they ranked slightly better (first with 138.89). In their only other postseason game on their trek to a title, Damien defeated Pirates, 136.28 to 101.84. James ended the regular season in fourth place with a record of 9-6. With a scoring average of 123.22, they also placed fifth in the league in that metric. In their only other postseason game of the season, James took down OneaTuaThreea, 140.16 to 123.24.
