      Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Squiddington Comes Back to Nip KOOkie Monster to Get to Championship

Squiddington got the second-highest score of the week and erased a 5.12-point deficit on Sunday night to nip KOOkie Monster 154.84 to 149.86. This matchup included three lead changes, with the largest lead being 20.80 points after Sunday afternoon. Squiddington gets revenge for a Week 11 loss (144.28 to 117.74) and improves to 1-2 this season against KOOkie Monster. Justin Jefferson brought in the second-highest score in the league this week with 36.40 points (144 Rec Yds, 2 TD) for KOOkie Monster.

Dowdle had plenty of opportunities for KOOkie Monster, but could only manage 51 total yards on 16 touches.

It wasn't all bad news for KOOkie Monster, as they did put together a team of real-life winners. Every starter except Malik Nabers suited up on a victorious NFL team in Week 16.

For the victors, a pair of players have been hitting their strides at the right time: Brian Thomas Jr. and Terry McLaurin. Over the past four fantasy matchups, that duo has surpassed their season scoring averages by 57% and 40%, respectively. Conversely, Squiddington has a player trending in the wrong direction. The Minnesota Vikings DEF has fallen significantly short of their year-to-date average recently. Despite the loss, KOOkie Monster also had several players peaking for the postseason, most notably the Cincinnati Bengals DEF and Jefferson. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 12.75 and 26.45 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 145% and 45%.

Behind a second-half surge, Squiddington snuck into the playoffs as the final seed. Next week, the league championship will be decided when Squiddington battles No. 3-seeded Mack's Dirtybirds. These teams last met in Week 8, with Squiddington winning, 154.80 to 146.68. KOOkie Monster ended the regular season in first place with a record of 12-3. They also ranked first in the league with 141.37 points per game. KOOkie Monster was bounced early this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup. They had the league's best average scoring margin this season, outperforming opponents by 33.25 points per game.
