      Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

PHANTOMS-3 Beats Callum, Moves on to Consolation Championship

James Cook scored two touchdowns (27.60 points) and Patrick Mahomes added 23.70 points as PHANTOMS-3 took down Callum 117.60 to 105.68. This was a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead change hands three times, with the largest lead being 31.98 points after Sunday afternoon. PHANTOMS-3 goes to 1-1 this season against Callum, avenging a Week 7 loss (129.50 to 93.26) the last time the teams met. Kyler Murray led Callum with 20.38 points (202 Pas Yds, 63 Rsh Yds, 1 Pas TD/1 Int, 1 Rsh TD) while the Cincinnati Bengals DEF racked up 18.00 (6 PA, 5 Sack, 2 Int, 1 Fum).

Rico Dowdle had plenty of chances for PHANTOMS-3, but he logged just 51 total yards on 16 touches.

To go along with the fantasy victory, PHANTOMS-3 was keen enough to select winners in real life, as well. Every one of their starters played on an NFL team that won in Week 16.

For the winners, Sam LaPorta is getting hot at the right time. Over the past four fantasy matchups, he has topped his season scoring average by 59%. On the other hand, PHANTOMS-3 has a player moving in the wrong direction, as the Minnesota Vikings DEF has fallen significantly short of their year-to-date average recently. Despite the loss, Callum also had a pair of players peaking for the postseason: the Cincinnati D and Mike Evans. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 12.75 and 21.38 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 145% and 65%. Conversely, the losers had a couple of players who were fading down the stretch: Harrison Butker and Breece Hall.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when PHANTOMS-3 goes up against No. 2-seeded Black Cats. PHANTOMS-3 has a 1-1 record against Black Cats this season. Callum concluded the regular season in fifth place with a record of 8-7. Perhaps benefiting from some good fortune, they ranked just eighth in the league in scoring average at 103.90 points per game. Callum was bounced early this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
