Week 17 Recap: Tuesday Edition

WestFLGiants Gets Victory over Buttwiper, Nabs League Consolation Championship

A last-ditch rally on both Sunday Night Football and Monday Night Football wasn't enough for Buttwiper. They put up 24.80 points on SNF and 59.42 on MNF (combining to be 63% of their total score), but WestFLGiants still pulled out the 158.76 to 132.82 victory. The late-match efforts were somewhat unexpected, considering their pregame projections forecasted 17.58 points on Sunday night and 41.11 on Monday. WestFLGiants was led by Baker Mayfield this week (359 Pas Yds, 5 TD). Mayfield passed for five touchdowns and contributed 34.56 points to the final tally. Jonathan Taylor also helped out with 27.60 points by getting two touchdowns (125 Rsh Yds, 2 TD). The 158.76 points represented the seventh-best total in the league this season, as well.

Achane had plenty of opportunities for Buttwiper, but could only manage 38 total yards on 12 touches.

To go along with the fantasy victory, WestFLGiants was savvy enough to select winners in real football, as well. Among all of their starters, Taylor is the only one whose NFL team didn't win in Week 17.

For the winners, a few players have been heating up in the postseason, most notably the Indianapolis RB and the Philadelphia Eagles DEF. During the playoffs, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 163% and 82%, respectively. Conversely, WestFLGiants has a player trending the opposite way. Zach Charbonnet has fallen significantly short of his year-to-date average in the postseason by 38%. Despite the loss, Buttwiper had several players performing their best in the playoffs, including Jameson Williams and Deebo Samuel Sr. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 25.25 and 17.10 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 112% and 78%.

WestFLGiants finished the regular season in seventh place with a record of 7-8. Catching some unlucky breaks, they ranked third in the league in points per game with 117.81. In their only other postseason game on their path to the consolation championship, WestFLGiants defeated Delicioso, 172.22 to 125.94. Buttwiper wrapped up the regular season in eighth place with a record of 5-10. They also ranked eighth in the league with 101.22 points per game. In their only other postseason game of the season, Buttwiper took down Neck Infection, 168.94 to 122.12.
