Ricochet2 Comes Back to Edge Sam, Secures Spot in Consolation Championship

Ricochet2 edged Sam 117.78 to 117.74 to improve their season record to 3-0 against them. They improve to 8-8, while Sam drops to 7-9. Joe Burrow passed for three touchdowns and was the determining factor this week, putting up 21.98 points for Ricochet2. That's a downgrade, however, from Amon-Ra St. Brown, who earned the top score with 38.70 points the last time these teams met. Ricochet2 now has a 15.50-point average margin of victory over Sam in three matchups.

Despite the loss, Sam had a couple of players peaking for the postseason: Brian Thomas Jr. and Terry McLaurin. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 24.00 and 22.95 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 57% and 40%. On the other hand, the losers had a pair of players who were fading down the stretch: the Detroit Lions DEF and Tony Pollard.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when Ricochet2 matches up against No. 4-seeded ermanno. Ricochet2 has a 1-1 record against ermanno this season. Sam finished the regular season in seventh place with a record of 7-8. From a points per game perspective, they ranked slightly better (fifth with 120.73).
