A primetime comeback on Monday Night Football (45.28 points, 40% of their total score) wasn't enough for Sam, as Ona Blues earned the 145.64 to 112.68 victory. The late-match efforts were somewhat unexpected, considering their original Monday projection was only 31.30 points. Ona Blues was led by Trey McBride, who added 30.30 points to the final tally (123 Rec Yds, 1 TD).
Sam had one fairly noticeable starter that missed out on opportunities. Terry McLaurin could only reel in a single catch, despite seeing a total of seven targets.
For the victorious side, several players have been heating up in the postseason, including the Buffalo Bills DEF and Bucky Irving. During the playoffs, that duo has exceeded their season scoring averages by 73% and 51%, respectively. Despite the loss, Sam had a pair of players performing their best in the playoffs: Brock Purdy and Brian Thomas Jr. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 25.70 and 26.05 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 63% and 61%. Conversely, the losers had a couple of players who struggled in the playoff spotlight: Joe Mixon and Terry McLaurin.
