Hippos defeated Nicholas 142.58 to 125.64, led by Jonathan Taylor, who recorded the highest player score this week with 39.80 points. Hippos took a 6.58-point lead on Thursday and maintained an advantage throughout the matchup. Hippos goes to 1-1 this season against Nicholas, avenging a Week 7 loss (136.26 to 128.24) the last time the teams met. The Atlanta Falcons DEF led Nicholas with 25.00 points (7 PA, 2 TD, 3 Sack, 2 Int, 1 Fum) while Derrick Henry racked up 20.90 (162 Rsh Yds, 27 Rec Yds). Adding insult to injury, Nicholas received no points from Alvin Kamara.
For the winners, several players have been playing their best at the right time, most notably Keenan Allen and Taylor. Over the past four games, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 93% and 62%, respectively. Despite the loss, Nicholas also had a pair of players peaking for the postseason: the Falcons D and Tee Higgins. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 13.00 and 15.45 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 176% and 41%. On the other hand, the losers had a player who was fading down the stretch. Henry has dipped below his yearly average by 25% over the past month.
Next week, the league championship will be decided when Hippos faces top-seeded SkolVikes22. Hippos is winless against SkolVikes22 in two matchups this season, with their most recent loss coming in Week 15. Nicholas ended the regular season in second place with a record of 9-6. They also ranked second in the league with 135.34 points per game. Nicholas was one-and-done this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup. They handed out their fair share of beatdowns this year, as they registered five blowout victories on the season.
Jacobs now has a rushing TD in each of his last six games. This week he put up 13 carries for 69 yards and a TD.
Henry had 24 carries for 162 yards, the first time he's rushed for 150 yards since he had 169 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 7.
Lamb made seven catches for 105 yards, giving him at least 100 receiving yards in each of his last two games.
With 12.20 points (62 Rec Yds), Smith tallied the ninth-highest score for a TE this week.
Allen (141 Rec Yds, 1 TD) scored 29.10 points, the second-highest score of any WR in the league this week.
The 24.30 points scored by Robinson this week was good enough to rank eighth among RBs.
