      Week 17 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Horned Ninjas Gets Victory over RCBP in League Championship

Both teams had big performances in prime time in what turned out to be a 164.25 to 129.65 Horned Ninjas victory. Horned Ninjas and RCBP each had an excellent Monday night, as Horned Ninjas earned 69.25 points on MNF (42% of their total score) while RCBP got 69.15 (53% of their score). The late outbursts were impressive, as the original projections called for Horned Ninjas to have 43.00 points on Monday night, while RCBP was slated for 44.67 MNF points. Horned Ninjas was led by Brock Purdy this week (377 Pas Yds, 3 Pas TD/2 Int, 1 Rsh TD). The San Francisco QB passed for 377 yards and contributed 43.05 points to the cause. DeVonta Smith also pitched in with 33.00 points by getting two touchdowns (120 Rec Yds, 2 TD). Adding insult to injury, RCBP got zero points from Ka'imi Fairbairn.

Achane had plenty of opportunities for RCBP, but could only manage 38 total yards on 12 touches.

It wasn't all bad news for RCBP, as they did put together a team of real-life winners. Every starter except Fairbairn suited up on an NFL team that won this week.

For the winners, a pair of players have been heating up in the postseason : Purdy and Smith. During the playoffs, that duo has surpassed their season scoring averages by 62% and 50%, respectively. Despite the loss, RCBP had a couple of players performing their best in the playoffs: Jared Goff and Jahmyr Gibbs. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 47.85 and 28.70 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 67% and 41%. Conversely, the losers had several players who struggled in the playoff spotlight, including Cooper Kupp and Fairbairn.

Horned Ninjas wrapped up the regular season with a record of 9-5, good for second place. In terms of scoring average, they ranked slightly worse (fourth with 133.89). After a bye in the first round of the playoffs, Horned Ninjas nipped IDNATIUS, 192.25 to 188.20, on their trek to a title. RCBP concluded the regular season in fifth place with a record of 8-6. When considering points per game, they ranked slightly better (third with 138.44). They played in a pair of previous postseason games this year. In their last game, RCBP beat KillerRabbit, 169.20 to 140.85. The week before, they took down RobFromSurprise, 168.80 to 154.30.
