Final Score 156.30 | 125.80 |
Facing an 18.20-point deficit on Monday night, BeerNutz scored 48.70 to take down Chicken Dinner 156.30 to 125.80. They also put up the highest score of the week. This shocker was revenge for a loss to Chicken Dinner in their last meeting a season ago. Chase Brown led Chicken Dinner with 26.30 points (97 Rsh Yds, 1 Rsh TD, 1 Rec TD) while Jonnu Smith racked up 19.80 (48 Rec Yds, 1 TD).
There were two starters that left points out on the field for Chicken Dinner. Even though Courtland Sutton and Josh Downs saw a total of 17 combined targets, they were able to reel in just six catches between them. A position where Chicken Dinner really made a regrettable choice is QB. Baker Mayfield could have started in place of Tua Tagovailoa, and that point difference would have changed the outcome.
For the winning team, a couple of players have been getting hot at the right time: the Kansas City Chiefs DEF and Jordan Addison. Over the past four weeks, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 62% and 58%, respectively. On the other hand, BeerNutz has a player trending the opposite way. DK Metcalf has fallen significantly short of his year-to-date average recently. Despite the loss, Chicken Dinner also had several players peaking for the postseason, most notably Isaac Guerendo and Smith. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 11.72 and 20.30 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 123% and 57%. Conversely, the losers had a pair of players who were fading down the stretch: Josh Downs and Jonathan Taylor.
BeerNutz headed into the playoffs, fueled by a fast start to the season. They move on to the semifinals where they meet top-seeded Surprise Bears, who is coming off a bye week. These teams most recently clashed in Week 8, with Surprise Bears winning, 173.10 to 149.00. Chicken Dinner concluded the regular season in fifth place with a record of 8-6. When considering points per game, they ranked slightly better (third with 132.82). Chicken Dinner was one-and-done this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
It was a season-high 125 yards for Robinson this week with 22 carries.
Taylor had 22 carries for 107 yards, the first time he's rushed for 100 yards since he had 114 against the Buffalo Bills in Week 10.
Dowdle had 25 carries for 149 yards, giving him at least 100 yards on the ground in each of his last three games.
With 10.40 points (24 Rec Yds, 1 TD), Andrews tallied the ninth-highest score for a TE this week.
Gibbs (31 Rsh Yds, 83 Rec Yds, 1 Rsh TD, 1 Rec TD) scored 28.40 points, the third-highest score of any RB in the league this week.
The 29.90 points scored by Daniels this week was good enough to rank seventh among QBs.
