      Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Mamba Beats the Pants Off Matthew, Moves on to Consolation Championship

With the two-headed monster of De'Von Achane and Saquon Barkley carrying the team, Mamba dismantled Matthew 159.82 to 96.42. That tandem joined forces to score 58.00 points, clearly outperforming James Conner and Bo Nix (47.62 combined points), the top two on Matthew. Barkley rushed for 150 yards, adding 27.00 points (150 Rsh Yds, 2 TD). For the winners, Achane also chipped in 31.00 points (120 Rsh Yds, 70 Rec Yds, 1 TD). Mamba has played Matthew well lately, improving to 2-1 head-to-head this season, including a Week 13 close win (98.26 to 95.90) in their last matchup. Mamba, already one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season, beat their 119.64 per game average by 34%.

There was one starter on Mamba that missed out on some chances. Despite being targeted seven times, DK Metcalf could manage just three catches.

Mamba was on a different level in the backfield, as they started two of the league's top-10 overall RBs this week (including Achane, who was in the top five).

For the winning side, T.J. Hockenson is getting hot at the right time. Over the past four fantasy matchups, he has topped his season scoring average by 52%. Despite the loss, Matthew also had a pair of players peaking for the postseason: Mike Evans and Conner. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 21.38 and 22.68 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 65% and 41%. On the other hand, the losers had a player who was fading down the stretch. The Detroit Lions DEF has dipped below their yearly average by 63% over the past month.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when Mamba faces top-seeded Rudock is a filthy animal. These teams most recently battled in Week 7, with Mamba winning, 119.18 to 111.66. Matthew concluded the regular season with a record of 8-7, good for sixth place. From a points per game perspective, they ranked slightly worse (eighth with 109.78). Matthew was sent home quickly this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
