      Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Evan Rallies Against Austin, Will Play for Consolation Championship

Evan put up the fifth-highest score this season and erased a 6.38-point deficit on Sunday night, defeating Austin 157.42 to 123.68. This was a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead change hands four times, with the largest lead being the final margin. Evan gets revenge for a Week 11 loss (143.14 to 104.28) and improves to 2-1 this season against Austin. Evan, already one of the highest-scoring teams in the league this season, beat their 118.97 per game average by 32%.

Dowdle had plenty of opportunities for Austin, but could only manage 51 total yards on 16 touches.

For the winning team, a few players have been hitting their strides at the right time, including Mike Evans and Sam LaPorta. Over the past four games, that duo has surpassed their season scoring averages by 65% and 59%, respectively. Despite the loss, Austin also had several players peaking for the postseason, most notably Tyjae Spears and Puka Nacua. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 13.10 and 22.62 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 133% and 86%.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when Evan faces top-seeded CHIEFSPAT. Evan has a 1-1 record against CHIEFSPAT this season. Austin wrapped up the regular season in sixth place with a record of 7-8. They also ranked sixth in the league with 113.59 points per game. Austin was bounced early this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
