      Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Antinatural Rallies Late to Beat Mean Machine, Gets Shot at Consolation Championship

Antinatural improves to 2-0 against Mean Machine with a 141.32 to 129.30 win. Their overall record goes to 6-10, while Mean Machine falls to 9-7. Mean Machine isn't an easy win for Antinatural, whose a 7.18-point average margin of victory against Mean Machine is half of their typical margin of victory. Jerome Ford (92 Rsh Yds, 39 Rec Yds, 1 TD) was the winning factor this week, picking up 24.10 points. This was a bit of a drop-off from the 27.00 points he got the last time these teams played.

Dowdle had plenty of opportunities for Mean Machine, but could only manage 51 total yards on 16 touches.

For the victorious side, a couple of players have been warming up at the right time: Adam Thielen and Ford. Over the past four weeks, that duo has exceeded their season scoring averages by 176% and 87%, respectively. On the other hand, Antinatural has a pair of players heading in the opposite direction. Breece Hall and Derrick Henry have both fallen well beneath their year-to-date averages recently. Despite the loss, Mean Machine had two players peaking for the postseason: Justin Jefferson and Tua Tagovailoa. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 26.45 and 16.27 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 45% and 35%. Conversely, the losers had a player who was fading down the stretch. Kenneth Walker III has dipped below his yearly average by 57% over the past month.

Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when Antinatural faces No. 3-seeded Madmen. Antinatural has a 1-1 record against Madmen this season. Mean Machine ended the regular season in fifth place with a record of 9-6. They also ranked fifth in the league with 117.48 points per game. Mean Machine was bounced early this postseason, losing in their first playoff matchup.
