Week 17 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Maximum Effort Beats Up The Huntsvillain to Win League Championship

Maximum Effort took advantage of 29.40 points from Ladd McConkey (94 Rec Yds, 2 TD) and 28.30 from Lamar Jackson (168 Pas Yds, 87 Rsh Yds, 2 Pas TD, 1 Rsh TD) to destroy The Huntsvillain 145.70 to 97.77. Maximum Effort took a 9.50-point lead on Thursday and never looked back. This beating was revenge for a loss to The Huntsvillain in their last meeting a season ago. This is the third straight week The Huntsvillain has scored less than their previous week's point total. They got 148.97 points two weeks ago, 140.13 last week, and 97.77 points this week. Each team left something on the table as Maximum Effort had one starter turn in zero points and The Huntsvillain also had one.

De'Von Achane had plenty of chances for Maximum Effort, but he logged just 38 total yards on 12 touches.

In addition to the fantasy W, Maximum Effort was savvy enough to choose winners in real life, too. The Indianapolis Colts DEF is the only starter that wasn't part of a winning effort this week. Also, with 33 touches this week for Saquon Barkley, it means that his touches have now increased in three consecutive games.

For the victorious side, a few players have been postseason stars, most notably Brian Thomas Jr. and McConkey. During the playoffs, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 74% and 46%, respectively. The Huntsvillain had several players who were cooling off in the playoffs, including Chris Boswell and Brian Robinson. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 5.33 and 8.23 points, respectively, falling short of their season-long marks by 46% and 34%.

Maximum Effort finished the regular season in second place with a record of 10-4. From a points per game perspective, they ranked slightly better (first with 132.71). They played in a pair of previous postseason games this year on their voyage to the championship. In their last game, Maximum Effort defeated 956RGV, 173.20 to 135.23. The week before, they beat Big Richard Energy, 171.77 to 157.00. They dished out their fair share of beatdowns this year, as they registered five blowout victories on the season. The Huntsvillain concluded the regular season in first place with a record of 12-2. With a scoring average of 131.12, they also placed second in the league in that metric. They played in a pair of previous postseason games this year. In their last game, The Huntsvillain took down El ChupacaBrock, 140.13 to 133.80. The week before, they defeated Rochester Bears, 148.97 to 128.80. They had the league's best average scoring margin this season, outperforming opponents by 21.45 points per game.
