Bungals put up the fourth-highest point total of the season to take down Motor City Kitties 232.50 to 207.00. Bungals took a 197.50-point lead on Thursday and remained in front for the rest of the matchup. This postseason win had to feel especially good for Bungals. When last they battled Motor City Kitties in the playoffs in 2023, they ended up on the wrong end of a title-game showdown. Jared Goff racked up the third-highest score of the league this week with 57.00 points (303 Pas Yds, 1 2PT, 3 TD) for Motor City Kitties.
There was one noticeable starter on Bungals who wasn't fully in tune with his QB. Despite being targeted seven times, Terry McLaurin could only reel in one catch.
With 12 targets this week for Tee Higgins, it means that his targets have now increased in three consecutive games.
For the winners, several players have been late-season stars, most notably Jessie Bates and Higgins. During the playoffs, that duo has bettered their season scoring averages by 98% and 88%, respectively. Conversely, Bungals has a player moving in the wrong direction. Terry McLaurin has substantially underperformed his year-to-date average in the postseason by 45%. Despite the loss, Motor City Kitties also had a few players performing their best in the playoffs, including Ameer Abdullah and Goff. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 17.00 and 58.33 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 177% and 61%.
Bungals finished the regular season in second place with a record of 10-4. When considering points per game, they ranked slightly better (first with 176.71). After a bye in the first round of the playoffs, Bungals took down SF's BowMen, 202.00 to 160.50, along the way to winning the trophy. They had the league's best average scoring margin this season, outpacing opponents by 28.16 points per game. Motor City Kitties wrapped up the regular season in third place with a record of 10-4. From a points per game perspective, they ranked slightly better (second with 168.75). They played in a pair of previous postseason games this year. In their last game, Motor City Kitties beat Crack the Whipp, 178.50 to 157.00. The week before, they thrashed Steel Curtain, 247.50 to 163.00. They distributed their fair share of classic drubbings this year, as they recorded six blowout victories on the season.
