Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

The Green Jackets Overwhelms The Trumpsters to Get into Championship

The Green Jackets pummeled The Trumpsters for the second time this year 148.04 to 103.58. Their overall record moves to 9-7, while The Trumpsters drops to 9-6. The Trumpsters still cannot manage a victory against The Green Jackets, who pushed their career unbeaten streak to three games. The margin of victory was particularly pronounced, ranking 12th overall in the league this season. The Green Jackets usually does well when they face The Trumpsters, against whom they own an average margin of victory of 48.10 points in the season series. Furthermore, The Green Jackets outdid themselves, and scored the fifth-highest point total in the league this season. This brings their average score in the series to 143.11 points, much more than their season average. Jonathan Taylor rushed for 218 yards and was the reason for the win, getting 44.80 points. Taylor continues to perform like a second-rounder should for The Green Jackets, averaging 16.72 points per game.

There was one player on The Green Jackets that failed to capitalize on opportunites. Despite being targeted seven times, DK Metcalf could manage just three catches.

For the victorious side, a few players have been playoff studs, including the Indianapolis RB and the Green Bay Packers DEF. During the playoffs, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 103% and 84%, respectively. Conversely, The Green Jackets has a couple of players trending the opposite way. Travis Kelce and Derrick Henry have both fallen significantly short of their year-to-date averages during the postseason. Despite the playoff loss, the Atlanta Falcons DEF was playing well during the stretch run for The Trumpsters. Over the last four games, they have averaged 14.25 points, exceeding their year-to-date number by 193%.

Next week, the league championship will be decided when The Green Jackets goes up against No. 5-seeded The Kraken. These teams most recently clashed in Week 11, with The Kraken winning, 118.78 to 106.68. The Trumpsters ended the regular season in second place with a record of 9-5. Their record was a bit misleading, as they ranked just sixth in the league in scoring average at 99.70 points per game. The Trumpsters dropped their first playoff game following an opening-round bye.
