Week 16 Recap: Tuesday Edition

The Kraken Gets Comeback over Battle Bears, Secures Spot in Championship

The Kraken got 24.32 points from Baker Mayfield (303 Pas Yds, 42 Rsh Yds, 2 TD/1 Int) and 23.30 from Bijan Robinson (94 Rsh Yds, 2 TD) to defeat Battle Bears 83.42 to 67.36. The Kraken came into the Sunday night game facing a 12.36-point deficit, but scored 24.32 for the comeback victory. This matchup saw three lead changes, with the largest lead being 21.30 points after Sunday afternoon. This stunner was revenge for a loss to Battle Bears in their last meeting a season ago. Ja'Marr Chase led Battle Bears with 19.40 points (97 Rec Yds, 1 TD) while George Kittle brought in 16.60 (106 Rec Yds).

There was a player on both teams that had plenty of chances but left points out on the field. On the winning side, Kendre Miller got 10 touches but only tallied 31 total yards, while Isiah Pacheco managed just 26 yards on 10 touches for Battle Bears.

The Kraken has a few players cooling off at an inopportune time, most notably Jauan Jennings and Trey McBride. Since the playoffs have begun, that duo has dropped 55% and 30% below their respective season-to-date scoring averages. Despite the playoff loss, Josh Allen was playing well during the stretch run for Battle Bears. Over the last four games, he has averaged 34.19 points, exceeding his year-to-date number by 36%. Conversely, the losers had a player who was tailing off at the end of the year. Kenneth Walker III has fallen short of his yearly average by 74% over the past month.

Next week, the league championship will be decided when The Kraken matches up against No. 6-seeded The Green Jackets. These teams last met in Week 11, with The Kraken winning, 118.78 to 106.68. Battle Bears finished the regular season in first place with a record of 9-5. They also ranked first in the league with 112.35 points per game. Battle Bears dropped their first playoff game following an opening-round bye. They passed out their fair share of beatdowns this year, as they racked up four blowout victories on the season.
