Each team put on a primetime show in what turned out to be a 146.22 to 137.58 Brandon win. FIRST or LAST earned 49.38 points on Sunday night (36% of their total score) while Brandon had an excellent Monday night with 64.70 points (44% of their score). The late fireworks were impressive, considering the original projections called for Brandon to have 47.15 points on Monday night, while FIRST or LAST was slated for 35.26 SNF points. Brandon was led by Mike Evans (97 Rec Yds, 2 TD). Evans scored two touchdowns and added 29.70 points to the final tally.
Checking deeper into the outcome, FIRST or LAST can trace the loss back to their wide receiver choice, Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Smith-Njigba had been projected to score 15.85 points, actually ended up with 6.20, and that difference was enough for Brandon to take the win.
It wasn't all bad news for FIRST or LAST, as they did field a team of real-life winners. Every starter except Drake London played on a winning NFL team this past week.
For the winning side, several players have been playoff studs, including Sam LaPorta and Evans. During the playoffs, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 72% and 62%, respectively. Despite the loss, FIRST or LAST had a few players performing their best in the playoffs, most notably Jayden Daniels and Bucky Irving. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 33.10 and 20.60 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 55% and 51%.
