Week 17 Recap: Tuesday Edition

Ernest Beats SVD2 to Win League Championship

Ernest put up the second-highest score of the week to take down SVD2 143.48 to 109.80. This was a back-and-forth battle that saw the lead change hands three times, with the largest lead being 33.68 points after Monday night. Ernest gets revenge for a Week 7 heartbreaking loss (111.38 to 111.02) and improves to 1-1 this season against SVD2. Brian Thomas Jr. led SVD2 with 23.90 points (91 Rec Yds, 1 TD) while Bucky Irving brought in 23.00 (113 Rsh Yds, 77 Rec Yds). Adding insult to injury, SVD2 received no points from Tua Tagovailoa.

For the winners, a few players have been heating up in the postseason, including Mike Evans and Jason Sanders. During the playoffs, that duo has bettered their season scoring averages by 62% and 52%, respectively. Conversely, Ernest has a player moving in the wrong direction. Josh Allen has substantially underperformed his year-to-date average in the postseason by 28%. Despite the loss, SVD2 also had several players performing their best in the playoffs, most notably the Buffalo Bills DEF and Jr. During the postseason, that combo has averaged 13.50 and 26.05 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 73% and 61%. On the other hand, the losers had a pair of players who struggled in the playoff spotlight: Chris Boswell and Tua Tagovailoa.

Ernest wrapped up the regular season in first place with a record of 12-3. They also ranked first in the league with 147.93 points per game. In their only other postseason game on their march to the title, Ernest annihilated Navy Shellbacks, 138.66 to 65.14. They had the league's best average scoring margin this season, outpacing opponents by 39.44 points per game. SVD2 ended the regular season in third place with a record of 11-4. They also ranked third in the league with 125.83 points per game. In their only other postseason game of the season, SVD2 took down Eagles_Year, 194.40 to 145.78.
