BIGDOGINTEX defeated The Dawg Pound 175.50 to 144.50 for their second win in as many head-to-head matchups. Their overall record goes to 8-8, while The Dawg Pound drops to 7-8. Baker Mayfield passed for 303 yards and was the determining factor this week, getting 46.00 points for BIGDOGINTEX. Mayfield has had a surprisingly good year for BIGDOGINTEX, contributing a surprising 37.53 points per game. Both teams could have scored more points as BIGDOGINTEX had one starter turn in zero points and The Dawg Pound also had one.
Rico Dowdle had plenty of chances for BIGDOGINTEX, but he logged just 51 total yards on 16 touches.
For the victors, a few players have been late-season stars, including Brian Thomas Jr. and Brandon Aubrey. During the playoffs, that duo has outperformed their season scoring averages by 115% and 55%, respectively. Despite the loss, The Dawg Pound had a couple of players peaking for the postseason: Jerome Ford and Jerry Jeudy. Over the past month, that combo has averaged 12.25 and 18.50 points, respectively, topping their season-long marks by 65% and 59%. On the other hand, the losers had two players who were fading down the stretch: the Minnesota Vikings DEF and Andrew Van Ginkel.
Next week, the league consolation championship will be decided when BIGDOGINTEX faces top-seeded Hurts So Good. Hurts So Good is in the midst of a five-game winning streak. The Dawg Pound finished the regular season in eighth place with a record of 7-7. In terms of scoring average, they ranked slightly better (sixth with 151.93). The Dawg Pound dropped their first playoff game following an opening-round bye.
